I have the AFE Stage 2 with a custom lid and dry filter uses the bottom portion of the stock box so uses the factory "snorkle" and everything and sounds better and looks better than the stock tube. I know its not doing much until I tune it but I got a really good deal on it .

I have the Volant with ram air tube and 8" Donaldson 100000 mile dry filter. Also added 5star tune and Magnaflow. Did them all at once. Sounds great. Nice increase in power. Sure looks good under to hood.

I would like to say, better air flow = less filtration is a false statement. Most all CAI filters have much more surface area then the stock filter which results in more air flow and most (not K&N) aftermarket filters out perform OEM filters for air flow and filtration. The Airaid filter (Synthamax dry)filters much better then OEM and flows 1500CFM for the filter I am using. (OEM drop in replacement)

I do not recommend oiled filters for the main reason of the user may over oil it and that includes myself. That is why I went with the Airaid Synthamax as it is a dry filter. The air factory air box already takes in cold air through the fender so I felt no need to replace it and that is why I went with the Airaid JR kit.

My reasons going with a CAI are:
1. Better filtration
2. Better flow
3. use exiting air box (JR kit)
4. Makes 5.0 sound like it should
5. Looks awesome

Not to go off topic, but do you guys notice on some trucks the Overflow tank for the coolant looks very red/pink/clear tank and in some trucks orange? I seem to sure notice that..

Nice set up!That would be the only aftermarket air filtration I would put on my truck.Nothing will filter better than the" military" grade Donaldson filter. That airbox looks like it is larger too.

It is larger. So large that they also provide you with a different overflow coolant tank and bracket to make room it.

Interested in getting the same intake. How loud is it? I know most intakes generate some noise, but is it livable? I had the Roush unit, but it was so loud I had to take it off. It literally made the gas pedal and steering wheel vibrate. Thanks.

Do you happen to know/recall the part # for the "8" Donaldson 100000 mile dry filter" ?

Default Save your money

Unless you drive around at wide open throttle all day that intake isn't going to make a bit of difference. EngineerMike posted a good write up explaining the physics behind it. Pedal position = butterfly position and the fact of the matter is that under normal cruise all you are doing is increasing pressure before the throttle body which doesn't do anything for you until you floor it.
Get a tuner and smile on down the road.
