I would remove the SS media from the outlet side to eliminate oil transfer. By increasing the chamber volume it eliminates any chance of a siphoning effect. Air travels the path with the least resistance and that would be across the entrance of the outlet/return screen directly to the outlet / return.
It will not scavenge the walls of the outlet because there is no suction path running across it. With the ss media it creates path to pull oil across if your engine moves enough air. Back to back testing in a several hundred mile test proved it.
The ss mesh now comes in one side and we inform the customer to install the mesh on whichever side they choose to be the inlet side. The latest test we did on the UPR project car was with the diffuser and 1.5 inch extension and the SS media removed from the outlet / return.
We are working with a large oil filtration manufacturer on a custom inlet filters that will greatly improve the coalescing effect and eliminate 99% of the mist / vapor travel. These will be offered as inline filters for other brands and both inline and internal with UPR catch cans.

wish I would have known to remove that mesh 2500 miles ago when I got the can lol

Thanks for that info. I'm assuming it's to be mounted like the youtube video of Sharad's Mustang with the new diffuser. Does Sharad's catch can have the extension on it or is it just using the new diffuser?
My car has a sound tube which part of it is bolted to the fender in that location. I would have to remove this before I could use this spot. Thanks again.

Like I mentioned before, I'm currently running a Bob's Auto Sports catch can on my 5.0. Out of curiosity, I went out and pulled the quick connect off of the intake manifold barb. It's been about 1,300 miles since I last checked for signs of oil. Like before, there was a very slight film of oil on the outside of the manifold barb but it didn't discolor the Q-tip I used on it. I then ran the Q-tip around the inside walls of the barb and only came up with a very slight discoloration. I than ran a new Q-tip around the inside of the quick connect and I did get some oil colored discoloration but it wasn't really that much and the Q-tip was still mostly white. It was more than what I got from running a Q-tip over the inside and outside of the manifold barb.
It doesn't appear that very much oil is getting through so it seems that the Bob's can is doing it's job pretty well.
I plan on reinstalling the UPR can with the new diffuser at some point soon and see how well it does in comparison.

So I looked up the prices for both of these cans tested on the webpage for UPR and EcoPower.com. The base RX is 199, The UPR is 129. After you add the diffuser and extension to the UPR it comes out to the same price. With that said, I still don't know which one to buy, but I will be getting one sooner rather than later. I'm very interested in how phase 3 will end up. If both cans pull about the same amount, I think either will be good enough to be put on my truck. I will have to look at the mounting positions/placement to see where it would best work for me. Thanks again [MENTION=54333]Ford850[/MENTION] for doing this test as well as you have.
