4X4 regrets
If I had it to do all over again, I would have held out for a 4X2 because they are so much easier to get in and out of and the sides of the bed are easier to reach into. I believe the two wheel drive would ride a little better as well, that is what you get for caveing to peer pressure.
I will probably keep this truck for a year or so and consider ordering a 4X2 just the way I want it. Anybody else regret getting four wheel drive?
After driving about 700 miles and after several manual checks, I am averaging 18.6 MPG. That is about a good as you can expect out of a 4X4 full size truck.

Meaner than ymeski56
I would beg to disagree. The height difference will be noticed in the front, not the back (bedsides) and would be negligible getting in. It is a pickup after all.
Same goes for mpgs, they really aren't much different but it will add up a bit over time. Again, it is a pickup.
If you don't need 4x4, then by all means buy a 4x2 but convincing yourself on a small ride height difference and negligible mpg difference is a bit unreliable.

I guess it all depends where you live. I couldn't imagine have a 2WD truck as a daily driver. I hear what you are saying and have spent 25 plus winter in RWD cars without issue, but I. A truck, in the northeast, 4x4 is essential. Besides the camping and fishing, I like to go off the beaten path once in awhile. Again, if you don't need it than you will save money in the initial purchase, maintenance and fuel! Good luck!

0.9% is for suckers!
I guess that's why they have 2wd, 4wd and Awd options. I'm not so sure the 2wd ride would be that much different unless the payload is considerably less.
I don't use 4x4 everyday, we don't see snow here, but the winter weather and rain make for a fun time during Hunting season and other times of the year I trek offroad.
Dont feel bad, I see tons of trucks in this area that get bigger tires, rims, 12" lift, winches, etc ad don't even know where the dirt is. Lol.

fuel economy?? if it's in 2wd mode, what's the difference?? if its in 4wd, but that's only when you need it. ride and ride height? for **** sakes, if you want a luxury car, get one....
sorry, I can't agree with the 2wd side. nothing against them, I'd be fine with it for a summer driver or whatever, but I would not want to face NL winters in a rear wheel drive with almost no weight over the drive wheels. sorry. thats my take on it.

Keepin' the lights on!
I wouldn't buy a 2wd again. Granted, maybe I don't "need" a 4wd but it is nice when the road turns crappy. I still have one 2wd ('69 F100 - don't drive it hardly at all) but if I ever came into a bunch of money I'm going to convert it to 4wd as well. In NM, and probably up there too, there is much better resale value on the 4wd.
So no, I don't regret buying a 4x4.
