Default 5.0 - Mustang vs. F150 - Whats the difference?

anyone know exactly what the differences are b/w the 2? Just fueling my curiousity. I have an xcal3 from my old mustang that is itching to have a tune put in it once they are available, as well as potential other goodies

5.0L Mustang GT:

    5.0L F-150:

The F-150 engine was tuned down on the Horsepower and Torque was increased, there is a difference as well with Compression Ratio although it is minor.

interesting, Ford has been pushing that it's 412hp/390ft-lb but I see that is with premium fuel. giving up 42hp to gain 3 ft-lb doesnt seem quite right...I'd love to see a dyno chart of each showing low rpm numbers.

Exactly......I will gladly take the Mustang engine if I gain 42 HP and lose 3 ftlbs of torque. Something else has to be different...

Heads and cams are the same. The cam timing is different in the tune for the trucks. The only differences in the engines are the compression ratio (pistons) and the headers.

Cam timing and the exhaust manifolds/headers are different,

      Piston part #
      BL3Z-6108-C for the truck 5.0

      Piston part #
      BR3Z-6108-F for the Mustang 5.0

Price on the Stang piston is double the trucks so I am guessing Mustang has forged units and the Truck has hyperutectic ones
