Been running 87 tunes for almost 2 weeks. Ran the economy for a week. Switched to the perf tune. Huge difference. Feels like a horse always ready to bolt. I loaded the economy back in yesterday and as soon as I hit the driveway this afternoon the perf went back in.
I'll never be looking to win any races but I can say one thing for certain. I'll never go back to stock. I may never go back to economy.
(I hear little voices saying "get 93 perf, get 93 perf)

Which shift strategy did you go with? If street, did you feel like its too harsh at WOT? Im assuming normal DDing, shifting is tame and smooth?

*Fuel Economy update. I filled my truck up and hand calculated it to be 19.3mpg. Truck said 20.4, but I think we were both off since I used a different pump and topped off to the next dollar. Tripometer was at 628 miles with 32 miles until empty so that would total 690 miles. So far MPG is up slightly, but that is cancelled out since I have to use 89 octane now so MILES/$ is the same.

Weird thing is, after I filled my truck, the miles to empty gauge read 726 miles! that is the highest I have ever seen it. The truck must have learned that I drive like a grandma!

Is the firmer shifting like in street mode harder on the transmission than stock?

I've been wanting a tune for my 5.0, mostly to change the shift points. I'm not sure I care too much about firmer shifts but it would be fun I'll bet.

I have the chill, which is firmer than stock. I feel that it is less harsh than stock since there is 'jumping in delay'. Of course I base this off of absolutely nothing but I am op so here, I am GOD!
It is a great question, but I feel that the only reliable way to do it would be doing an actual fluid analysis. The best candidate would be a pair of fleet vehicles that see similar environmental conditions, mileage, driving conditions, and as much the same as possible. It would be best to wait until both of those vehicles had their first transmission fluid change. Have one tuned after that and the other truck not tuned. after 30,k miles or whatever, drain just a bit and have them analyzed.
Even with all of those measures, it would not be 'GOSPEL' and people will still make up their minds on what they want. STILL, it would be cool to see.

increasing line pressure in the transmission is beneficial to the transmission. It doesn't "slip" into gears when it shifts which increases temps. I don't want it to bang into gear like a built tranny to accomodate additional power from say a cam swap or turbo/supercharger.
I spoke with Mike about my concerns and he says he can adjust the shifting to an extent on whichever strategy you choose so may just bite the bullet and get chill and see if theres any further "firmness" can be added to it thereafter. He did say you can't order a race tune and then decide you want chill for obvious reasons of having two tunes for the price of one. I'll be in further contact with him on this issue and update.

I have the street shift and under typical DD shifting feels "crisp" without any "snap".
