5.0 mpg

Getting close to turning over 5,000 miles on my '11 4WD XLT Scab 3.55 5.0L. Mixed driving during the summer months on E10 I could get 18.0 - 18.5 all day long. Highway trips would net 21 - 22 at 70 and if conditions were right (no head wind, with a bit of drafting) I could hit 23. Overall recorded (and verified) MPG on a long highway trip was in the 21 - 21.5 range. This is driving conservative, but not like I had an egg under the go pedal. I also usually travel at 5 over the limit on the interstates. I have noticed that if you get much above 70, however, the computer indicates FE dropping off rapidly.
Winter months seem to be taking a toll. I am down to 16.0 - 16.5 in mixed driving. More warm ups, idling, and crappy winter fuel. Haven't had a highway run...yet. That will change the week after Christmas, so I will have an idea of winter FE. I'm guessing a drop down to 19 - 20 on the highway due to the winter fuel blends.
To compare...on my 2006 5.4L FX4 reg cab with 3.73 rear my recorded numbers over 20,000 miles of ownership showed 15.0 - 15.5 mixed driving in summer. 11 - 12 mixed driving in winter. And the best I could ever muster on the interstate was 17.5 - 18.0 (driving very conservative). These numbers also stayed pretty much the same on a stock tune as well as a PHP tune (87 performance).
Overall I am happy with the 5.0L numbers. I would bet a reg cab 2wd with the right rear end (3.31 or 3.55) would turn out even better numbers.

At what point did you see a significant increase in mpg? I have about 350 miles on our F150 supercrew 4x4 5.0 liter with 3.55 gear ratio and getting about 15mpg on the highway/14 around town.

I have 16,000 miles on mine 2011 4x4 screw. 5.0 and 3.55. Just went on a long trip and got 21 mpg. With a tonneau cover I think it could help a little. But anyway I usually get 21-22 long trips. 16 ish in town.

I have a 2011 Supercab 5.0 3:55 4x4 (all stock no aftermarket parts yet) around 1500km on it and the truck is telling me I'm getting on average with city and highway mix 13L/100km or 18 mpg.
I have seen as good as 11L/100 km (21.38 mpg) and depending on the wind and hills I have reached 10L/100 km (23.52 mpg). These numbers were achieved on the highway. I am still waiting for the truck to break in, which from what I have been told is around 5000km or so, and I will update this and start manually calculating to see the difference with the onboard computer is.

1800 miles on my Screw 4X4, 5.0, 3.55, 300 miles towing a utility trailer with ATVs. Lifetime 16.2 mpg. Can get 21 plus on two lane at 60. Trailer drops it to 12-14.5 depending on the hills.

mine has alittle over 8000 miles on it. Before the winter blend gas hit the pumps I was getting 18.5-19 constantly that is mix driving. Now running the winter blend gas driving the same routes I get 17.5. I have tried different grades of gas from 87-93 I get the same no matter what.

Dissapointed
Just drove from Southern Ontario to Tampa FL 1500 mi averaged 15.8 MPG. Best tank 16.2 driving through the relatively flat Tennessee Georgia area. Weather was bad so this was at or under posted speed limits
I was towing a small 13 ft boat weight maybe 1500 lbs or so no more.
I was really hopping to at least achieve 17MPG. I am hopping on the way back home without the boat I get 19 MPG. We will see i guess.

I'm at 12800 miles now, and my mileage is similar - 18-22 mpg on the highway depending on the run - 15's in town, unless my wife has been driving it, with her lead foot, and pulls it into the 13's sometimes.
