thus far with 8300 miles, mine is seeing 16-17 around town and lately I find myself driving it a lot harder than I used to. it spends a lot of time in manual mode and winding the gears out or gear braking. my highway trips so far hvae all been 200 miles or less so I havent had a FULL tank of all hwy yet. but on my trips I have made so far I have seen high 19s-20mpg

Can anyone tell me if this is the average fuel economy for the 5 liter? I have put in a K&N air filter in, a Bakflip F1 tonneau cover and nitrogen in the tires.

I am hope to still get better fuel economy out of the 5 liter.
I have a 2011, exact same specs, minus the K&N. 30000 km and my lifetime average sits right at 14L/100 km.

You will see some much better highway kms anywhere from 10.5-11-5 on some nice flat stretches (no wind of course!), but speeds above 115km/h and wind will kill it.

In town driving sucks it up big time in our trucks, plain and simple. You think you'll be doing real good after a few highway runs, then a few errand days around town, and you're left with the same old average.

There are enough threads and enough posts to confirm an AVERAGE of 13.5 - 14.5 (15-17 mpg) is pretty consistent with MOST everyone similarly spec'd.

Don't baby it looking for a miracle. Enjoy your truck.

Just got my truck on 9/22 with 6 miles on the clock. Took a road trip racked up 2300 miles with a lifetime mpg of 16.4. Made it from Las Cruces NM, to Blythe CA, 558 miles on one tank and DIC read 104 to empty. 5.0 4x4 3.55's 36gl tank, no cover, no mods, driving around 75mph.

Whats the break-in period? Now back home I am getting 14.8 mpg stop and goin.

4k miles, 5.0 3.73 gears, my lifetime average is 17.3. I am impressed with that considering all the dirt road and desert jaunts I have done.

I've got 30K kilometers on my truck - 16.7 L/100km since day one by the convenience screen calculator.

90% of that is city driving.

About 2k pulling a 6000lb travel trailer.

My right foot may be heavier than most - I don't worry about the mileage too much....

I get a little over 17mpg city, and between 17.5 and 20 mpgs on the highway. The highway mileage depends if I an driving through the hills or flat, and whether I an driving into or with the wind.

I have the 5.0 with 3.55 gears. Average for 13K is 16.1, that includes a little towing time.

Yesterday, I had to make a 120 mile trip, so I set the cruise on 65 to see what kind of mileage I could get. My average for the trip was 21, and that included being caught in a traffic jam and maybe getting one mile in 10-15 min.
