Default 5.0 L - Real World Fuel Economy

I own a 2012 F150, super crew 4x4, 6' 1/2 bed, 3.55 rear axle, with a 5.0 liter. It has 3,500 km (2200 miles) and I am getting 12L/100kms (19.5 US mpg) Highway, 16.5L/100km (14.2 US mpg) City and Combined 14.1 L/100 km (16.5 US mpg).

Can anyone tell me if this is the average fuel economy for the 5 liter? I have put in a K&N air filter in, a Bakflip F1 tonneau cover and nitrogen in the tires.

I am hope to still get better fuel economy out of the 5 liter.

Don't know about average. My truck is a 2012 RCSB 5.0 with 3.55 gears. The trip computer says 18.6 mpg in town driving. I rarely use the freeway.

I have a 2012 FX4 SCREW W/3.73, a BAK Roll-X, SOLO dual cat back, 15000km and my combined total according to my computer is 14.5L per 100 running 89 octane. So you are in the ballpark, I find the start stop is a mileage killer and you really gotta go soft on accelerating to squeeze out the best mileage. Forgot I'm running a 5 star 89 Perf tune too. You should get a bit better after a few more oil changes also.

Your truck isn't broken in yet, so 19.5 mpg on the highway, from a 360hp truck, is pretty good.

As you put miles on your truck, you'll figure out what speed it gets the best mileage at, and what terrain it likes best too -

Sounds fine to me.

First tank was 16.4mpg dash, 16.7 hand calculated on mine. Just got back from a 400 mile road trip and with a 20mph+ cross wind I averaged 18mpg on the way down @ 72mph and it dropped down to 17.5 on the way back with a tailgate down and a 7' long 600#+ aquarium/stand in the back . I'll take 18mpg with a stiff cross wind any day! Took a casual 150mile drive to take in some fall scenery on some 55mph back roads and averaged 22.1mpg @ 60mph on that trip according to the computer I'm impressed so far, seems to do about 1-2mpg better than my 4.6L V8 Mountaineer did on average and the 5.0L is lugging around 900# more worth of vehicle and has a TON more power.

13,500km, and I'm at 13.8L/100 over that time. Lots of hauling my ATV, and my commute to work is only 12km one way, half of which is hwy at 70mph.

With cruise set at around 108km/hr (67mph), instant mpg pegs and stays at 11.2L/100 (21mpg). I try to stay just under 110 in a 100 zone, and I drive about 115 in a 110.

I know for sure the 3.55 rear end will do just under 1L/100 better than my 3.73's.

39,000 kms on my 5.0 with 3.73's average liftime is 14.0L/100K. Give it time to break in (around 10,000kms) and you will see a noticeable gain esp with your 3.55 rear.
