Didn't know that... My silverado was an 02 caught it right at the end. Either way no ill effects.

We had an 01 Suburban with the knocking 5.3. They bought it back. It burned a qt of oil every 500 miles as well.

It doesn't look like their fix solved much since the latest TSB (Oct 3 2011) is for engines/trucks from 1999 - 2002, and from 2007 - 2012. It includes 4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L, and 6.2L engines. And when you read it, they say it won't hurt the engine and "At this time attempts to replace the engine assembly or pistons is not recomended." I like the "At this time" part.

So they fixed it for 5 years and then started building them again...That's funny!

Just saying the TSB covers no engines from 2003-2007.

All auto makers have issues. I saw where GM just paid 900 million due to the faulty ignitions that killed like 125 over so many years and they knew about it and did nothing, like most auto makers will do, look the other way. They might want to start giving prison time for issues they know are responsible for deaths and do nothing, but look at planned parenthood out tax dollars killing millions of babies every year. Under the current administration nothing surprises me anymore. Its just sad.
