Oh I see I've not posted my video sound clips in this thread yet of my exhaust yet.(Muwhahaha) So you want louder?
Here's the Borla "ATAK" their most aggressive catback for the 5.0. Don't forget this is filmed right at the tailpipes so it seems really loud.

I'm doing the research on an exhaust too and while I get your point about the difference between sound clips and real life, I think this video does a good job demonstrating relativity. After watching this, I'm interested in the S-Type. I have similar wants as you: No drone, louder but not obnoxiously loud, prefer close to stock at cruise.

I was not aware that Borla made the touring system in the dual rear exit configuration. I wonder if that is new since that is a 2013 and mine is a 2012. I actually tried to get the Sport of ATAK in the side exit configuration, but Borla said it wasn't possible. Chris at Stage 3 tried. I was never a fan of the dual rear exit as it just doesn't look right to me on a pickup.

I have the ATAK System on my 2011 5.0. Its a amazing system that sounds strong and aggressive. I had it paired with a K&N CAI and it was unique. Recently I added a pair of American Racing headers with a TVS 2300 Supercharger. If you ever considering upgrading the manifolds to headers, do something less aggressive. The ARH Headers and ATAK produce something that is deafening. I enjoy the ATAK system everyday, brings a smile to my face when I putt my foot down. With the K&N there was no drone at cruising, and was pleasant to drive around the city.

As soon as you start getting into replacing the exhaust manifolds for something like full length headers, you will likely need a custom tune. It just starts getting more complicated and expensive at that stage. I did enjoy hearing the headers on a Chevy I had a while back scream, although it was a bit too loud.

quick Q: i was thinking of doing 3" from the y pipe back ditching the 2.5 res and all the 2.5/2.75 piping and adding 40944 borla. so basically 3" all the way through. I assume that the flow will be a good thing but will there be sacrifice of low end becuz of upping pipe size and if so is it a negotiable loss i.e. wont really notice!?

I Just put the Borla touring system on my truck. Not too loud and has a mild tone. If you step on it, it wakes up. I haven't heard it from outside yet, but I don't think I will be turning heads with this system.

Hi, All--
I'm new to this forum, but a longtime veteran of several Mustang sites
I just bought a new F150 STX last Friday, and I'm researching to see what kinds of mods I'd like to make, one of which is exhaust.
I'm a bit different than most . . . I like QUIET exhaust, because I like to put my foot into it, and NOT get tickets . . . the quickest way to capture the attention of law enforcement is a loud exhaust . . . so, I'll take a QUIET performance exhaust, thank you
I have seen ALL KINDS of posts about sound, loudness, quietness, etc., in this and other threads, but I haven't seen a single answer to this question so far:
Anybody got dyno results to prove that any kind of exhaust system mods besides (and perhaps even including) headers actually increases the power level on these vehicles? If so, what gains (or losses) are there? And with which systems?

Has anyone done any tests to see if they obtained gains from the exhaust? I absolutely do not want to lose HP, torque or MPG. I have read some posts on here the the stock exhaust provides the most power on these trucks, and aftermarket exhausts reduce all of which I mentioned. Is there any TESTED AND TRUE proof of this? If so then I will not be doing an exhaust.
