Yesterday I was in a traffic while the rain was pouring and my truck started shuddering and turned off. After this the oil light turned on on my display, checked the oil level it seems fine just recently did my second oil change on the truck(9400 miles). The truck is a 2011 xlt 4x4 chrome package screw 5.0l engine. I am taking it to the dealership Friday has this happen to someone around. I live in PR so the temp never goes under 75 this time of year.

Happened to me a few weeks ago...I have a 2012 5.0 with 10k. Ha not happened since and I have heard the same from a few guys. Checked my oil n the level seems to be ok. Have not had a chance to get it to the dealer.

See see see...this is why i went with the ecoboost...didn't want to chance it with old technology...shelf life of v-8 engines has expired.

I read a post similar to that some time ago. No CEL or codes. I believe the poster mentioned the EGR system. You mileage may vary though. Where in PR, met my wife in Fajardo when RR was still there.

When your engine stalls, your oil pressure light comes on since the pressure drops. That part is normal. Now, why did it stall?

My 12 fx4 5.0 did the same thing today when I went to pull out onto the highway and another car cut me off and so I let off and the engine died. The low oil pressure light came on. I just changed the oil last week so I looked under the hood and truck quickly and started it back up and pressure was normal. No issues after that so far.

What gas are you using? Mom and pop stores or branded gas like Exxon, chevron, etc. Water in gas from cheap stations could do that.

I always fill up at quicktrip due to it being right around the corner from my house and I just run 87 regular gasoline. I have never had an issue before and my truck has 15000 miles. Now since the one time I have not been able to duplicate this so im not worried as of now.

Had similar issue (2013 FX4:19+++ miles), I was driving down the road, slowed to make a turn, as soon as I was into the turn the low oil light illuminated and engine shut down. Coasted to a safe spot to stop, placed in park and restarted the engine with no after effects.
This happened once before while my son was driving (same scenario), I was out of town and told him to take it to the dealer. Dealer called and said they can't reduplicate the issue. I asked if they scanned for an error code and they stated no codes come up.
