Glad you got the block, so for now no knock for you at 10K miles on new short block. So the tick may just be a part of the normal engine noise. Mine has a faint knock with the tick that I can now hear on both sides of the engine. I think I will continue to drive mine this year until it gets worse…Louder so they can't say they do not hear it. They have extended my warranty some because of my complaint about it, but It will still expire on time for me rather than mileage.

I asked my local dealer (service Dept) if they have replaced any f150 5.0's and he said only one and that it was blowing smoke out on start up letting oil go by. He said it only had 1500 miles on it.

Mine had a slight tick and that knock/metallic tapping. Engine was at 41k miles but the tapping started at around 32-33k. She's currently at a dealership getting a new shortblock as we speak.

This is interesting. So you had the distinctive Loud Ticking on the passenger side? Not the injectors and you switched to a heavier oil and no more tick at all. So your still on a power train warranty and do you take it to the dealer for changes or do it yourself? What brand oil may we ask? Sorry for all the questions just wondering if anyone else has tried this and had the same results?

This was a video of my truck when I first bought it new. It sounded exactly like that up until I switched to 5w-30, around 40k miles. It never got better or worse. I've only used MotorCraft synthetic blend, for both oil weights. I change my own oil. I need to get a video of it now, but trust me, it's quiet now. 👍

Well so far doesn't seem to be a high percentage, thats good. I am sure not everyone who ever had a problem will be on a forum, but for us that are the percentages seem low.
