5.0 engine oil choices

I have a couple of questions for you old-school, frequent oil change guys...
Do you change your automatic transmission fluid more often than the manufacturer recommends? Keep in mind that the clutch plates in the transmission are designed to wear at a certain rate, so old, un-filtered fluid will be full of clutch material.
How often do you change your brake fluid? Glycol-based brake fluids absorb moisture over time making the fluid less capable of dealing with high heat.
Your motor oil isn't the only fluid in the vehicle that has a critical impact on the reliability of the vehicle.

Grand Master...of nothing
Now that I have a new truck I too plan on taking it to my dealer for maintenance and going full synthetic. Good to great the good reviews about Motorcraft & that the Ford dealers keep it stocked.
So what is the mileage intervals for full synthetic? Seems to be about 5k miles.

You can get the product data sheets online for many of the oils that can be used in your engine. Last time I checked Motorcraft Full Syn had the highest flash point and the lowest pour point of all the synthetics I could get spec sheets on. Because of this, that's what I use in my Ecoboost engines.
Now all this talk of extended oil changes sounds good and used oil analysis usually backs up the fact that you are not hurting your engine with 10-15k oil change intervals but I have changed the valve cover gaskets on a few BMW M54 engines that went consistently with 15k OCIs and it was varnish city. Hey the UOAs looked great but the engine was varnished up something terrible!
Now I realize that varnish doesn't affect the engines ability to perform and that I am wasting time and money doing 5K OCIs on my 10 year old Bimmer, but when I took the valve cover off that engine everything was gun metal grey. There's a certain value to that. Also keep in mind high tech engines generally utilize lots of timing chains, tensioners and sophisticated controls that may use oil related devices so to me it is insane to bathe those parts in 9800 mile oil!
Just .02 cents worth ( which when added to $70,000 will get you a cup of coffee on Rodeo drive).
