Default EB or 5.0 for all city driving?

I have test driven both the 5.0 and EB in the SCREW 4x4 6.5 and absolutely love this truck. 99% of my driving will be in the city of Boise going about 40mph without a ton of time spent at stop lights. Is one motor better than the other for this type of driving? Thanks everyone, can't wait to get my truck!

Just city use? No towing? Maybe the 3.7 would do you well.

On occasion I will tow a 7000# trailer, maybe 4 times a year.

I don't think the 3.7 is an available option for you anyway if you want the supercrew 4x4. I have the 5.0 4x4 supercrew 6.5 bed w/3.55. City or in town driving with a lot of stop and goes really eats up your fuel economy. However, 40-55 mph without stops, my truck does exceptionally well (for a truck). That speed seems to be its sweet spot (19-19.5mpg or slightly better if no hills, the problem for me is those speeds are completely unreasonable where I live), anything faster, especially after 65mph it starts to drop. My average is consistently 18mpg for mixed driving, I reset after each fill. However, in town driving with lots of stops, its not hard to only see 16mpg or less. I did see 20.5mpg once (average, not instant) on one 300 mile highway trip, only to record 18.5 on the way home. Go figure. IMO, the ecoboost may yield you better fuel economy when your speed can be maintained (the way you describe Boise, I'm jealous), but it will be a wash anytime you stomp on it. You'll be happy with either.

3.55 works great in your application with the super short 1st gear in the six speed especially if you buy the EB. My 3.55(5.0) gets into 6th for mpg @ 35 or so and @39 in tow/haul with a 3000lb trailer. Plenty short enough gear for city driving. 65MPH is 1700rpm. Looks like the EB is most suited to your application.

I know the 5.0 vs EB has been beaten to death I have read all the posts the last few months. I am really not trying to start any arguments but looking for honest opinions in regards to using my truck for this scenario. Thanks everybody!

Drive them and get whatever you like better. They will get similar MPGs, not a big enough difference to buy just based on 1-2 MPGs at the most. If you have a light foot. I have no doubt eb would be more efficient.
