if all you are going to do is a intake i wouldnt even bother unless you want a little louder sound that most create.
power/mpg gain will be very mild at best and for $200-400 most places charge for an intake it is not worth it if you ask me.
if you eventually are getting a tune then id opt for one. your money, your truck, your call.

Unless you like full race, neck snapping shifts get the 5 star tune. If you do like neck snapping shifts get the jlp tune. My g-tech meter says the 5 star tune is faster, 0-60, 1/4, and trap speed, BUT they were measured on different days and conditions so thats not an entirely accurate result. I feel that mike has put more time and effort than JLP. I'm still considering trying one more of their tunes(I've tried 4 or 5) and if that one doesn't work I think I will be done with them.
Right now I'm running 5* 91 economy tune because at part throttle it shifts like stock so I don't fine myself manually shifting all the time. Sucks that I can't seem to get a tune with shock soft shifts at part throttle but harder higher rpm shifts at full throttle. When I have time, probably January, I will try again in the quest for a perfect tune.
