The 3.7 is Ti-VCT, so yes.

As for water jackets, I'm assuming you're asking if the bores are siamese? I don't know. If they aren't, then the block could be weaker.

Guys now you get the point..........as far as I can find out as of now.....the bore is a little large on the 3.7 and the piston type I'm sure is a different type since its not a turbo.......................but I bet there's not alot of differance in the two motors........from the outside the block and heads look the same to me.

I haven't seen the 3.7L pistons, but from what I've seen of the 3.5, I would assume the pistons are very different.

Yep...it is the teardown of the "Hero" Ecoboost after ~160,000 equivalent miles.

Default Ecoboost bore

I have a 2011 Ecoboost f150. I recently had to put a new motor in it. I had detonation and I'm curious as to how much I can bore the block without risking a piston blowing through the block. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I seriously doubt that the Ecoboost block can be bored. The aluminum cylinders are coated using Plasma Tranfer Wirre Arc technology. Here is an article that briefly describe it.

http://www.greencarcongress.com/2009...-20090529.html

Basically, there is no sleeve that can be bored. And given that the engine block is designed for strength and weight, taking any metal from the cylinders could weaken the entire block. That and the fact that the plasma coating would be removed would pretty much render the block useless.

Hope that helps.
