haha, ya a bit better now. When I was browsing the lots I noticed a lot of 5.0 and eco supercrews had between 1100 and 1300 lb payload. I don't think they were 3:73. I guess in a 1/2 ton, payload is more determined by the chassis and not the engine?

All the talk about fuel mileage cracks me up. If you want good fuel mileage, go buy a focus. I bought a truck to have a truck, to use it as a truck, and to drive it like a truck. I did not buy a 5.0l V8 supercab 4x4 stx f150 and expect to get good gas mileage. It's a truck people. Deal with it. And i buy Ford. Well because in my opinion, they are the best. And cyliner shutoff would in no way cause me to switch to another brand if Ford doesnt come out with it. I dont like that idea anyway. More to go wrong.

Well I disagree. Some people can't operate with a Focus! I recently bought a new XLT SC with 3.7 because of the many incentives right now. Maybe the mileage is just a little more, but since I get reimbursed per mile, that is like money in the bank, twice. I need a truck to haul sound equipment for my band and have so far been pleasantly surprised with the power it has. Soon it will gets its hauling capabilities tested. Nearing its first fill-up the combined city/hwy mileage is reading 19. I have read it gets better as the engine calibrates and we will see if this is true. I haven't had it on a pure road trip yet, so I don't know what that will do for the mileage.
