3.7 pinging

3.7 pinging
My 2014 3.7 recently began intermittently pinging under normal acceleration. I have 24,000 miles and I have been filling up with Sunoco 87 octane from the same station since it had 7 miles on it. I tried to reproduce the sound by revving to 2-3,000 rpm in my driveway and also notice a slight "rattle" noise when as the tach fell back to idle. These 2 things might be unrelated, but I'm just wondering if anyone has had a similar issue? Should I get it checked out, or is this normal?

Could be the gas if you haven't tried a different station yet? Also is the rattle coming from under the hood or just something else vibrating from the rev sitting still? If you can't pin point that I would definitely take it in as it seems to still be under warranty. My 5.0 would do that sometimes in high gear at around 1100-1600 rpms being a v8 especially going uphills. I tried everything even had the dealer check it and they couldn't find anything. I changed my plugs too (gapped down to low spec) and have ran some fuel additives like Lucas and clean my Throttle Body and MAF sensor on a regular basis. I would start with a dealer trip after trying different gas unless it gets worse.

I agree, try different gas and higher octane

Before upping octane, I'd try a bottle of Heet or other product to remove water. There could be some contamination, or even a load of bad gas, or even you got there 10 minutes after the fuel truck unloaded.
