I went straight to the dealer when I learned of this new TSB. That was 3 days ago. In the video there is information on the paper he is looking at that helped me decide whether or not my vehicle fit the parameters for the fix. I believe it was any ecoboost f150 built before December 2012. My 2013 was manufactured on 9/12. I only had the single deflector plate up top. I told the service tech exactly what I wanted them to do. Do the regular service interval procedure and then apply the TSB. He asked about a CEL and I said no, I always locked it into 5th when the shudder began not wanting to risk any potential damage or embarrassment. So...they did it. He came back and said it didnt apply to my vehicle because they could"nt find anything in the eternal diagnostic log but forced the new calibration anyways per my instructions. The fix works perfectly. It was awkward at first due to how accustomed I was to the shudder around 50-60mph. I had to get used to how smooth everything became. The turbos are definitely louder at low rpms in 6th gear. My gas mileage hasnt seemed to change at all since the recalibration but that may be due to the learning period the PCM is still going through. Truck is bone stock at the moment and still strong as ****. UNFORTUNATELY...the brand new SCT Livewire TS I ordered a few days before my visit is now incompatible with my PCM's brand new strategy. I tried to hook it up yesterday and nope... Which probably means any tuner you are using now will require a new update if you get this TSB. I called SCT and MPT and they didnt seem to know anything about the new TSB at that time. FML... Anyone know how long it typically takes the tuning software engineers to get their **** moving on these updated calibrations from Ford? Talkin to you SCT...

Factory recommended gap has been .030 - .033. for the past couple years. Before that it was .033 - .037 for 2011 - 2012.

I just checked out online workshop manuals and the latest gap they want is .031" for all years 11-14.

That's even better. I was referring to the specs in the owner manuals. Thanks.

Correct, and those that have upped the boost as tight as .028

That IMHO was an error from the start, any engine making over 12-14# boost could not help but have spark blow-out at a .040 gap.

I have mine gaped at .028 and truck couldn't run any better, in my experience .028 is what I would gap them to and that is not a assumption, my real world experience.

I just spoke with my dealer 2 min ago and they never heard of a fix/TSB for 2013-2014 EcoBoost CAC problem...

With my Aug-2013 built VIN in the Ford computer, there is NO ENGINE TSB listed for my truck... maybe not in Canada ?

I also have the AD CAC just like in the video...

Can anyone confirm the TSB 14-0017 really apply to 2013-2014 F-150 EB ?

No problem for now but I still got 1-2oz of water built-up within 5 months/7000km in my CAC everything bone stock... here's my thread
https://www.f150forum.com/f70/water-...emoval-248485/

I was trying to get TSB done while I'm stock and under warranty!

So... maybe I will drill that hole and remove the upper deflector from factory and then install my AFE Stage 1 :p

That is bizarre. Did they at least check your PCM for any update?

FORD: 2013-2014 F-150

This article supersedes TSB 12-11-15 to update the vehicle model years, build date, Service Procedure and Parts List.
ISSUE:

Some 2013-2014 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 3.5L gasoline turbocharged direct injection (GTDI) Ecoboost® engine, and built on or before 12/16/2013 may exhibit an intermittent stumble and/or misfire on hard acceleration after extended operation at highway speeds during high humidity or damp conditions. This may result in either a steady or flashing malfunction indicator lamp (MIL). Diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P0304, P0305, P0306, or P0430 may also be present. Evidence of misfire may be available in Misfire Freeze Frame Data even with no active DTCs.
ACTION:

Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
  1. Acquire Misfire Freeze Frame Data and DTC’s with the Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS). Use the following steps with IDS to obtain Misfire Freeze Frame Data.
    1. Select Toolbox
    1. Data Logger
    1. Modules
    1. PCM
    1. Select the following PIDs:
      1. MFF_LOAD
      1. MFF_RPM
  1. Does the misfire concern only occur in humid or damp conditions?
    1. Yes - proceed to Step 3.
    1. No - this article does not apply. Refer to Powertrain Control/Emission Diagnosis (PC/ED) manual Section 3: Powertrain Symptom Index to inspect such areas as Ignition, Compression, and Injection.
  1. Does the Misfire Freeze Frame Data indicate engine speed above 2500 rpm and load 100% or above? (Figure 1)

    Figure 1 - 14-0017
    1. Yes - proceed to Step 4.
    1. No - this article does not apply. Refer to PC/ED manual Section 3: Powertrain Symptom Index to inspect such areas as Ignition, Compression, and Injection.

  1. NOTE PLEASE ADVISE THE CUSTOMER THAT THIS VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH AN ADAPTIVE TRANSMISSION SHIFT STRATEGY WHICH ALLOWS THE VEHICLE'S COMPUTER TO LEARN THE TRANSMISSION'S UNIQUE PARAMETERS AND IMPROVE SHIFT QUALITY. WHEN THE ADAPTIVE STRATEGY IS RESET, THE COMPUTER WILL BEGIN A RE-LEARNING PROCESS. THIS RE-LEARNING PROCESS MAY RESULT IN FIRMER THAN NORMAL UPSHIFTS AND DOWNSHIFTS FOR SEVERAL DAYS.
Reprogram the PCM to the latest calibration level using IDS release 88.03 or higher. Calibration files may also be obtained at www.motorcraft.com.
