The picture on the left shows the earlier upper front CAC deflector. The picture on the right shows the stick-on deflector that goes on the lower front of the CAC (after removing the upper front deflector). That second one still makes me laugh... since it is a stick on plastic cover... literally a Band-Aid fix.

And we strive for the most cooling possible for IAT temps....so this is having the opposite effect. The EB cause of this is pretty easy to correct at the source instead of decreasing the effectiveness of the CAC/inter-cooler.

Ill have to see if I have the second one. I got the first one off but will have to look at the second. I wonder if they stopped doing it.

So far the truck seems much more responsive from a dead start. There seems to be less lag. I know the PCM re-flash affects the transmission shifting but this is from a dead stop.

*Disclaimer* I was driving a minivan all weekend while it was at the dealer so that may have biased me.

I looked at my cooler last night and saw a deflector on it and thought they might have forgotton to take it off. Looking at this picture I can confirm the removed the front deflector and all that is left is the rear diverter that angles air down out of the back of it.

LEFT: Upper Deflector. ---------- RIGHT: Block Off Sticker

Just thought I would update this with my findings. I have put on 2000km since having this update, so basically 10% of my overall mileage. My lifetime average has climbed in the last 2000km from 16.8l/100km to 17.7l/100km. So on average have lost 1L/100km, which might not seem bad but it has changed it this much in 10% of its life. Also I have noticed that throttle response is a little sluggish when just lightly pressing the throttle. IE, seems to take more movement on the pedal to make small changes on speed.

I'm not saying this TSB does not work as I have never had the shudder and I have not noticed any power decrease or gain. It still accellerates like crazy when you punch it. It should accelerate better with the shields off the cooler but my butt dyno is not very accurate. Unless it is a 50hp change I can't tell the difference.

Like I said just my findings so far.

I've driven about 900 miles since the update and in city driving I'm getting 1.4 mile per gallon better gas mileage.

I had it done today actually. Walked in to a very small dealer with a very slow service area but a veteran tech - described my issue, suggested that TSB 14-0017 should fix it. They agreed that it would be hard to reproduce on demand so they went with it.

He took it back, pulled off the covers, uploaded the new calibration and asked me to bring it back if the issue happened again and to have a nice weekend.

Simple.

My dealer is the same. I call him and he sets up a date and a loaner if needed.
