3.55 gears 275/70/18 tires leveled Ecoboost # 295/70/18
Done lots of research about tires and gears. I want 295/70/18 on stock rims for my 2011 leveled ecoboost 4x4 w/ 3.55 gear, butttt I'm not feeling paying $ on new gears and eventually blowing out my transmission. So I guess 275/70/18 on stock rims is about as big as I should go to be safe and keep power mpg's and all. Or am I wrong. Does anyone in here run this setup 275/70/18 with 3.55 rear ecoboost and how do you like it. Pics would be great. Also if anyone running 295/70/18 w /3.55 gears ecoboost how do you like it. Is it worth the power loss and any problems thus far is trans temp, sluggish on hills etc?

I have 18" rims which are 7.5" wide. My next tires will be 275/70/R18 as these are the beafiest A/t tires RECOMMENDED for the stock rims. I had 285/65R18s on my old truck which are about the same dimensions just wider and slightly less tall. These are both about 33" tall and much nicer than stock. I think you will be much happy with those choices than the 295 class tire. Those will take a huge hit on gas and are much more expensive. Trust me, I've been there. Go for the 33" tires and you will still stand out from the ordinary with a nice chuck of money left over.

285/75/18 is pretty close to the 295/70/18 and you werent bothered by it? Did you notice a big difference in the power and mpg's? You have the ecoboost with 3.55 gear ratio too?

I still think the 275/70/18 tire would satisfy my needs but like she says bigger is better.

Yep ecoboost with 3.55s. I wasn't bothered at all by it. Take off was just fine and the shift points seemed ok too. I figure I lost about 2-3mpgs. I bought a tuner and had a custom tune built mainly to adjust my speedo and update the shift points to restore some of the lost mpgs. I haven't run it enough since the tune to determine if I gained anything back or not.
I really don't think you will have an issue with it at all, and if you were, you could buy a tuner down the road to adjust everything.

That is pretty good so this shows 33" tires on 18" are still relatively easy (~55 lbs) for the ecoboost to turn with little to no boost. Going to the 295 class and similar size tires shoot the weight up to closer to 80 lbs. THEN you can kiss your MPG out the window. Just look at some of the loaded lariats running 20" rims on stock tires with the ecoboost. YIKES!
