I took my 2014 FX4 in today and they told me there was a TSB out on the Water Pump. It is chain driven and makes a ticking sound. They are replacing my water pump under warranty.

That's what the Service Writer told me so you know how that goes. Sounded legit. I will let you know today if it fixed the ticking noise.

I have a 2016 f150 with 9500km that I have had a tick the same as this since new pretty much. I would say maybe a bit more distinctive when I switched to syn oil last pip change, I def don't have any knocking but I think this tick is normal sound for the 5.0. My 11 ecoboost used to sound like a sewing machine, you think the tick we are hearing on our v8s is bad this is nothing compared to the eb! I get paranoid and always listening for noise and I have this weird speak/chirp that won't go away but I got oil on my belt pulley and I think that's the cause but who knows. My truck is also tuned and I prefer to avoid dealer visits but it is interesting to see all these videos of the motors ticking since I did notice that since new.

I have a 2012 F-150 with the 5.0, the truck warranty ran out on May 27 (from time not miles) and a loud ticking noise (very similar to some of the videos in here) started this past Sunday. Long story short, have anyone of you been able to have it be covered by warranty if the block needs to be change due to piston slap? miles on truck is 49,400. If so, please let me know how...

I see this is an old problem but new to me. Just purchased 2014 with the 5.0. Took it to dealer and service manager said it was normal and his truck sounded the same. I don’t know bought 3yr. 36k warranty will try to get more input next service. Worries me a little then I turn the music up.
