2014 5.0 rcsb noise after y-pipe install on stock exhaust
#14
If any cares I replaced the resonator with a straight pipe which made the noise even more noticeable....guess noise is all in the stock muffler....so no one else has done a y-pipe with a stock exhaust?

I replaced the stock muffler with a borla xs muffler, sound from exhaust still there at 1800 rpm and up on medium accel. much better but I can still hear it... coming from Y-pipe (stock cats it goes away) can it be the gauge thickness of the y-pipe? I bought the aluminized instead of stainless. besides replacing it I've thought about exhaust wrap to quiet it down has anyone tried this?

I have catless y pipe and solo m400 exhaust. Sounds like pure ****. And as soon as I can figure out how to fix it I will let you know.
For what it's worth my truck has the most annoying loud raspy popping sound under medium to heavy accel.
It started as soon as I took off the stock resonator and has just gotten worse the more upgrades I make.
I littlery hate driving it at the moment with the way it sounds right now.

wish I had received more response on this, maybe there hasn't been many installed or there was something wrong with mine, in all my years of hot rods and modifications I've never heard a vehicle exhaust sound like this.i'm not picky but even people outside my truck could hear the tinny/chain linky sound and comment on it.
