$1 more for diesel? where the heck do you shop? eco and 5.0 call for supreme for max performance/towing. Supreme is ~30c cheaper than diesel, here.

Let's not ignore the HUGE bump in mpg when towing, and i mean HUGE. Personally, towing my TT I'm getting almost 160% better with the diesel. THAT will add up quick!
That is true with lighter weights, but once you get up there in size/weight, the gap narrows dramatically. My last v10 f250 would get 6-7 mpg pulling about 13-14k lbs. Both my buddies Duramax, tuned or stock, get about 8 pulling the same load. The only one that does alright is the Cummins, but it too is only get about 9-9.5. But, they do tow a lot easier than the gas trucks... Combine the difference in fuel costs, and the gas truck costs less than the diesel, even with its tongue hanging out!

I don't see a 5.0 Ecoboost ever being used in an F-150 - if it had the same power to displacement ratio as the 3.5 liter, you'd have 521 horsepower and 600 lb-ft of torque. I could see it as a nice engine for the F-250 though.

The diesel is a $8,000 option on a Super Duty, that pays for a LOT of gas. I can't imagine paying another $8,000 on top of the already somewhat high price for an F-150 just to be able to say I had a diesel. You'd have to tow daily for years to make up that price difference.

Wasn't there an article discussing how ford made a presentation on a eco 5.0 with dual injectors...one gas one e85.

I'm pretty sure they are toying with the idea for the sd's...since all the EPA regs on diesel's.

I'd buy a turbo 5.0 in a SD. Imagine a nice tune on it.
