Dealer update: I was just contacted by my Dealer, they said they "found a fluid feed tube that was routed incorrectly when the transmission was manufactured."

Maybe this little printout I have makes more sense now? Could that have caused Ford's failed TCM test? The truck should be ready Tuesday.

Update, the trans was overhauled and I picked up the truck on Saturday.

It shifts better than it has since I purchased it new in December.

I have put on close to 400 miles since Saturday and every shift has been perfect in all gears.

I have noticed some minimal trans fluid dripping from the torque converter inspection plate area, have wiped it three times now. Stopped at the Dealer today to pick up a bottle of touch-up paint, since they dinged up my drivers door during it's stay!! They brought it right in and put in on the lift, cleaned out the bell housing with some brake clean and also put some Ultraviolet dye in the trans fluid. I have to bring it back on Friday for them to check for any more seepage.

Do they fill the torque converter before reinstalling it,possibly causing
the seepage from whatever may have spilled into the bell housing?

The only reason to fill a torque converter is if it's empty. I doubt they emtied it out after they pulled your transmission, but it is possible. Not sure on the newer transmissions, but the C6 had 2 seals on the front. An input seal and an outer pump seal. If those get pinched during reinstalling the internals, they can leak. If the dealer is already looking at it, then I would just take it back Friday and let them look at it. You might want to be near the window when they inspect it just incase the tech/manager try to pull a fast one. They shouldn't, but people are stupid sometimes.

Thanks for you response. I have a sloped driveway and backed the truck in so the front of the trans is lower than the rear, this should cause any fluid in that area to drip out quicker. I also have one of those UV flashlights so should be able to check underneath tonight and Thursday night before going back to the dealer Friday morning.

Some techs do fill the torque convertor I never do it just makes a mess but some do it. They will seep out of bell housing for days. The pump fills it right away anyway. They may have damage the input seal since many dealers don't have the dandles to put it in right and they are quite heavy on these units. I am sure they resealed the pump outer o ring and input shaft seal upon reassembly but could have damaged it. One other thing is they were having problems with the pumps themselves leaking due to bushing failure and also later it came out in a few cases where they have case pourosity issues as well. If yours didn't leak till they worked on it though I would just say they must have done one of the above to it. Make sure they don't put a thin layer of rtv on inspection plate where it meets the bellhousing (you wont see it unless you pull the two inspection plate 13mm bolts) as they might just to hide the slight seepage.

Thanks for the response makuloco2000,

I will bring it to them as planned Friday morning to double check the possible seep/leak. After that, I guess I will have to take off the plate myself and double check for any Tomfoolery with rtv! I have one of those flexible inspection cams and will use that to check out the situation.

I posted last week about a squeal from under my truck. And this week I was parked slightly nose down, and we started and more or less coasted out to the main road.
Stepped on accelerator and it felt like it was in 3rd or 4th gear. I looked to see if it was in 3rd, instead of drive, as I have done before but it was in drive. Backed up a little way, and then back into drive, same thing. Backed up again, and into drive and it finally went into Low. We were in a very blind spot, trying to get out onto the road, and I was very reluctant to go, until we had Low Gear.
Neither problem has happened again, so far. Calling Dealer tomorrow.

Good idea, Hammer65; I'll check on your updates to see how things go with the dealer. What's your truck's model year/mileage?

Update: Re-flashed computer per a TSB the Tech found.
He did not think it was the above mentioned 13-4-9, because there was no flashing of the odometer, as there should have been. Will now just have to drive it and see if it happens again.
