2013 Ecoboost and MPG
So I have had my new 2013 Ecoboost SCREW with 3.73 gears and getting very disappointing MPG's. I only have 4300 miles so far with an oil change at 2500 miles. I am getting about 15.5 HWY and it gets worse going over 72MPH. I am only averaging about 12.8 between city and hwy. My driving habits are normal and I do not drive hard. I had a 2011 Ecboost SCREW that got much better MPG's; HWY was closer to 20 and avg was about 16. What is going on? I can't imagine the 3.73 gears would make that much difference. Anything else I need to look at?

I would take your truck into the dealer. There was a tsb for the 13's. The engine would run rich after it was at normal operating temperatures. Check your tire pressures as well (some people don't). Plus the colder weather and winter gas makes it a lot worse too. Do you let your truck warm up for 15 minutes every morning? ThEres so many factors that can come into play.
I have a 13 XLT super crew with the 6.5 bed and 3.73's and my average on my instant gauge is 17.5 mpg. On the expressway I stay between 60-70mpg. After 70mph the mpg tanks fast since your essentially throwing a giant brick against the wind. Where I live it's relatively flat so cruzing 65 right now I'm seeing 22ish highway using cruze control. That's with 50/50 driving.

I usually run BP fuel 87 octane ( to me I fell like I get better fuel economy than the branch off stations). In the city I look ahead and see if the lights red. If no one is near my ill just coast to the light. On the highway I'll run about 65mph and set the cruse control. I check my tire pressure once a month and set it to the max psi for the tire 50psi on my set up. My truck is all stock too.

Before getting too worried about it I would say to drive it more. Quite a few people notice their mileage really pick up between 7,000-10,000 miles. It seems these motors are put together pretty tight. Additionally like others have said how much do you let it sit and idle, are you on and off the gas a lot and do you use the cruise on the freeway? These things make a huge difference on these trucks.

Double check the mpg manually at fill up. The calibration could be off and you could be getting better than you think.
I have 12K miles on my 2013 4X4 3.73 super crew. My long term average since purchase is 15.5 MPG. That includes 1300 miles towing a 6500 lb travel trailer (it get 10-11MPG pulling).
I get 17 average without pulling, 20 at 70MPH, 24-25 at 60. Overall I am very happy. I got the truck to pull the trailer and went with the Ecoboost to try to maximize my daily MPG without compromising on towing performance. I knew I was not going to the max MPG advertised and overall I am getting what I expected.
