I can't blame you for wanting to mod your truck. Many of us like to put our own touch on our rides. If its what you want...go for it. 5 Star's tune for the 3.7 is supposed to be killer. An intake might be the last thing I would do after other upgrades that are known to give more return on investment. If you truly find one that'll return 2 mpg....let me know so I can buy it next. Very doubtful of that much gain from an intake. But, what do I know? Above all, have fun and who gives a shiit about what others say. When they start making your payments, they can start having a say.

You're going to spend the $1000 anyway it sounds like.

It's an extra $1000 for the 5.0, your explanation makes no sense.

Get it in writing like I did. If the filter works correctly, it doesn't affect warranty at all.

And this....

The 3.7 really is a good motor. I've got it myself and enjoy. I don't tow anything either so it works out. Roush make a cai for the 3.7. Congrats on the truck man. This was my first new truck too and I was just as excited as you were

It is an excellent motor for towing within it's rated capacity. I'm not sure why everyone puts the disclaimer that they don't need more because they don't tow. I used my truck almost eclusively for truck duties, and the 3.7 is fantastic.
I will be writing a 5000 mile cross country towing review this summer, towing my 10'tall, 3800# RV, from sea level to 10000 feet. That will be a real test.

Sorry I didn't mean to make it seem like it wasn't good for towing. I'm sure it is. I just meant that I didn't need to drop more money on a bigger engine that I didn't need

I'm in a similar situation, I am using the truck for work and I'm in construction do I need a truck for material from time to time and it's also mostly my everyday vehicle. I wanted this engine for a number of reasons and the main reason being, I'm not going to tow anything very often but I might pick up a trailer or tent trailer and I know I won't have a problem if I do. This engine is a great choice if you don't plan on towing all the time and want the option to do so without paying the extra fuel costs ALL the time.

Exactly. It's there when you need it. Ford did a great job with this engine. They're way ahead of the competition.

Get a tune! call mike atm5star hell hook u up. It wont void your warranty. What kind of 3.7 is it. Gears? Cab size? I had a 2011 single cab 3.7 (it was stolen) with 3.55s with only a 5star tune and ran 14.9. These trucks are no slouch. Ill tag a vid. But i love my new truck way better. 2012 dodge ram rt! The Truck is a beast eco what??! Lol http://m.youtube.com/index?desktop_u...?v=N2eKJItar3c
