Update!
They found some a factory defect in the engine. Something about a head gasket that is supposed to have a hole in it about the diameter of a pencil. Instead, it was about half that size. Shop foreman and master tech have never seen anything like it before.
(I know nothing about engines. I'll share the actual notes when I pick it up tomorrow.)

Not that I was aware of. Here is the text from the dealer.
"Coolant found leaking. Pressure checked cooling system diag and replaced leaking water pump. Verified repair."

That must just be a added bonus, so good they found that too while in there. Saves you another dealer trip and wait.

Hi Stevelord I was curious how is your truck. Is it still running good?
I have mine in right now and of course the dealer doesn't want to listen to me and check oil pressures at the head. They are replaceing the VCT soloniod. Like yours when it was in the shop in the beginning.

Hi I realize that this is years after your post. ButI am having the same issues and it's been "fixed" 3 times in 3 months.
I just bought a used 2014 F-150 XLT (March 29, 2023) with the 5.0 and have the same issues and the truck only had 50K miles on it.
I bought from a GMC dealer 107 miles from me and thank God I bought the warranty. It's been back to their service dept 3 times already due to CEL light and p0012 codes.
They have replaced the VCT solenoids 3 times already and the timing chains. 1st visit they got done in one day as a courtesy to me as I told them I want my trade in back. (they have a 15 day return clause in the contract). 2nd time was a month later (and the CEL list comes on within 100-200 miles). This time it was in for 10 days.
3rd time in for 22 days. I just got it back last Thursday & Saturday the CEL came on again!
I am going to call the warranty company tomorrow and see if I can take it to a Ford dealer here in my town. Even though the repairs were covered there were still expenses. They made me the it back last time because the work was under warranty.
It's been in 3 times and they have not solved the issue. Plus they are saying I need replace the catalytic converters (get a DTC code on those too but I think its due to the VCT camshaft timing issue. 2nd go round those codes did not show up.
I am so frustrated. I thought the 2014 5.0L V8 was one of the most reliable engines. If can offer me any wisdom I'd appreciate it.
