They couldn't feel or reproduce anything. Their engine guys are booked up so they are going to clear it and give it back to me. Next time it comes on, I'll call them right away and schedule something.

I always was able to take it straight to the dealer when it would happen. Don't shut it off when it is doing it so they can catch what it is doing seeing how it is intermittent.

Not easily done with my schedule unfortunately.

I've been tempted to go to another, but I bought it here and have the history of the issue here too. Just realized it has been doing this for a year now.

I understand the schedule issues as it took me a while to get mine in and they kept it for a few days. I am not getting any codes, but I would definitely get them to monitor the oil pressure for sure in case you have that issue as the original Op had with his right side head. Thats what puzzles me as i have had noise several times come from the right side engine/head area, but no codes and truck runs strong no power loss at all. The main Tech said my truck was a very strong 5.0 and does not appear to have any obvious issues, but can't explain the faint knock, so we will watch and monitor it in case it changes or gets worse.

Taking it in Tuesday morning. Getting a loaner.

CEL codes came back within just 180 miles! That's a first!

I hope they get it for you. Ford knows about this , so hopefully you are under warranty yet (5yrs/60,000) if this is the problem it is a very pricey fix. Best of luck

Yeah still under the power train. The dealer techs seem very unfamiliar with it and from what I've seen on the forums, it is rare on the 5.0.

Update!

They found some a factory defect in the engine. Something about a head gasket that is supposed to have a hole in it about the diameter of a pencil. Instead, it was about half that size. Shop foreman and master tech have never seen anything like it before.

(I know nothing about engines. I'll share the actual notes when I pick it up tomorrow.)
