2011 f150 transmission slip?
Hi,
Having an issue and was wondering if anybody else experiences the same or if this is normal.
As some background, I have a 5/2011 f150 that had the common transmission pump failure. It went it for service and they only replaced the pump assembly. Said the transmission was drained of fluid but that it was just starting to smell burnt and exhibited no signs of any damage. Bear in mind that I did pull over and the transmission was acting up and did not want to stay in gear and was jumping right to 5th gear in the parking lot where i stopped. It also didn't want to reverse well off the tow truck.
I've got the truck back now and generally it shifts smooth for the most part except for one issue that I've started noticing and now am not sure whether it was always like this or not.
When I'm on the highway around 60mph, then go to pass and step on it, the truck shifts down to 3rd or 4th (normal), but then as I continue through the pass with the accelerator still down the truck will continue its natural upshifting to 4th or 5th as it runs out of the lower gear, however when it does this upward shift there is a noticeable shutter (2 or 3 quick surges) as it upshifts under acceleration load. It is magnified when I put a load in the back like an atv. It almost feels as if the clutch is slipping a bit as it moves into the upper gear - but I can't be sure that's what it is. If I go through the gears under lighter acceleration, it shifts smoothly with no stutter. Note - this is not the ecoboost shudder related to the engine.
Anybody else notice this similar issue with their transmission, or is this possibly damage resulting from the pump failure.

Take it by the dealer (even better with a load in the back) and have them take a spin in it. You'll probably get the dealership yada that everything is normal, but it will be documented that you turned it in and they did a test drive and ok'ed everything.

Is it possible that it is going into lock up? Are you in normal transmission mode or tow/haul? These transmissions are pretty complex, and it is doubtful that the dealer wants to get into the tranny on a warranty fix under a TSB unless they have to. So, any "everything is ok/normal" you get from the dealer isn't based on what they saw on the inside. Burnt fluid means stuff was getting very hot. It is possible that some of the material in the clutch pack is damaged, but you can't really tell without getting into the transmission.
Take it by the dealer (even better with a load in the back) and have them take a spin in it. You'll probably get the dealership yada that everything is normal, but it will be documented that you turned it in and they did a test drive and ok'ed everything.

I will definitely take it by the dealer, just wanted to see if anyone else said that it does this in their same transmission with no previous problems. It doesn't feel right to me - but wanted to check.
