Did they ever tell you what was causing the knocking with your original shortblock?

Yes they did, #4 cylinder had broken compression rings, # 5 had a lot of scoring.

Which dealer is diagnosing and repairing for you guys? I'm in Dallas and the two I've been to are clueless to this issue.

Also curious about engine warranty after sblock replacement?

It goes in Tuesday and I have already talked with the Service Manager and Foreman, They seem ready and dedicated to conquer this issue. I will let you know how it turns out.
Right now Im feeling a big sense of relief but dont want to get too excited until I have it back and its fixed.
Thanks Again!!
Stech,
What was the outcome in your situation? I was following your situation as you were really concerned that you have a defective block.

la_leo's outcome was extremely favorable to resolving his ticking and knocking. Just wondering if yours was as well?

Just got my truck back yesterday late afternoon. Sounds great right now, like night and day. But I havent had a chance to really check it out and under various circumstances. They replaced the timing chain tensioner and arm, along with water pump. They said both were making noises. Im hoping thats all it was. Will be going up to the mountains this weekend so Ill get a better listen when its hot. But right now it sounds like a different engine.

Ill update on Monday.

Stech, from the video it definitely sounds louder to me at front the top passenger side, so maybe they got it. After you drive it a bit you should definitely know. Mine is not that loud to me at all. I think i hear my water pump or pulley, so that may just be what i am hearing and the echo through my exhaust as it ties together underneath. At least I hope that is all it is. time will tell.
