Update. I picked my truck up 10 days ago. What did I hear this morning? That's right, the timing chain. WTF
Damn.... I would get that back to the dealer and documented.... So frustrating. Hopefully I hear some more news about my truck today.

I have been a life long chev diesel customer until my ecoboost, which by the way I love when it does not sound like a pile of crap or even a diesel when it starts. Has anyone else got this response! I only have a few hundred kilometers left in the powertrain warranty???? I will phone Ford customer service or you can please contact me!!!!!
Have you thought about purchasing an ESP warranty.

I really feel for you guys and girls with all these problems as mine did all the same but after all the stuff I've heard , read and seen for myself felt that in the end it is best to get another truck and trade my baby in :-( Honestly hurt my feelings and actually made my son that's 8 ball his eyes out. Should a truck with such lowileage need this much stuff done and changed already??? I don't think so myself. You shouldn't have to always be monitoring things that normally shount be worried about for an easy 100,000kms or more. The worst part is everything that we are going to the dealer about isn't getting fixed, just getting screwed with. They can't fix any of the major problems with it all and just tell us to keep driving its OK!!??? Wtf? I can't trust a vehicle under these circumstances. Secondly after weighing out what the ecoboost has cost me and will most probably cost me and its projected lifespan based on its past history of reliability issues I felt it is best to trade it in on the type of truck I originally thought I was buying. When will you guys and girls do the same?? This motor doesn't have a good looking future with terminal problems and no solutions. My ecoboost took way too much of my quality time away from me and my family to keep it around is what it really came down to. I hope you guys don't waste as much as I had to. I'm in love with my new 5.0 in the exact truck ;-)

I have read all 83 pages of this thread and I am sick to my stomach.

I just traded a 2010 FX4 Screw for a 2014 FX4 with the ECO. I love this truck, but now I am worried that it's just a matter of time before I have issues. I did buy the ESP, but that does not put my mind to rest...

Like another poster to this thread, I went through the 6.0 Powerstroke fiasco several years ago. I should have learned my lesson from that...stick with proven powertrains.

HemiHunter i would agree with you. Eco is a short term hotrod fast truck but the 5.0 is in it for the long haul. Simple V8. You know what I drove a rental f150 5.0 and i can tell you i enjoyed that motor. Every time i Got on it, the sound of the truck would put a smile on my face. Its fast as hell too, plus no turbo lag. if i had to buy a f15o i would defiantly get the 5.0

Tyssa'sRide...

The foamy stuff in the cap is from moisture that is not getting boiled off. Make longer trips so the oil gets hotter. This will lead to the oil level rising so it's not to be taken lightly.

I see carbon arcs on the plugs so they are toast. A carbon arc should have no effect on the coil. I suspect they are being replaced in error. I believe (but not certain) the white color is from bad gas. I suspect the cracked insulators are coming from the plugs being over tightened.

Don't fret yet. There are also lots of higher mileage (100k and growing) folks saying they have no troubles at all with their trucks. (ecoboost) If I were you though, I'd use a high quality full synthetic oil and change the oil/filter at least every 5k miles. I have a 2014 eco too with about 10k miles now. Love it. I did have the moaning and groaning issue with the transmission but with a few hours with the mechanic at the dealer and a TSB worked, it's back to being quite and smooth. I think that tranny issue only affected a certain build date (for the tranny).

Anyway, just do good preventative maintenance and don't worry too much. And do NOT follow that extended (10k miles) oil change interval Ford and other manufacturers recommend these days. That's not reasonable especially for a direct injected turbo engine.

I'm aware it's moisture. I was just really surprised to see it. I had just finished a trip that should've burned that off. Very few short trips. I replaced the plugs. I'm still getting misfires on #4. Have to replace that coil. I will more than likely have to pay too, the deductible on my ESP is more than the coil costs!!!

These make me laugh.
A simple V8? Please explain how this V8 is "simple".
Are people that scared of turbochargers? You know, that technology that's been around since the world wars?

Update November 24th 2014

So they said my truck is fixed, not making anymore noises. Nothing was done with the turbo noise, they think replacing the catalytic converter fixed it. I am a little skeptical.

The service manager is taking it home tonight and if it's all good sending it back to me tomorrow or Wednesday.

I bought an Ecoboost over a 5.0 liter because it was a better motor on paper for my intended purposes and I still believe it to be so I just wish Ford would stand behind their products with the same enthusiasm they put into selling it to us.
