No no.... not the sound of metal cooling off but, like I said, the sound of a fan slowing down and dinging off something... Like the first few posts in this 66 page thread mention.

You've taken the right steps by having the dealer check out your truck, Mark Gomez. I'd like to get this escalated to the regional customer service manager for your area for further assistance. Please send me a private message with any updates you have, along with your full name, VIN, servicing dealership, and best daytime contact number. I'll be on the lookout for your message!

I have a 2013 that has been making this noise since new.
Tink.Tink.Tink..Tink..Tink...Tink...Tink.....Tink. ....Tink......
What is the reason for this noise? I just attempted to read all 65 pages but I might have missed something
Have you brought this to the attention of your nearest dealer, donk_316? I suggest scheduling an appointment for diagnosis at your earliest convenience. Feel free to use this tool to do so. Additionally, please fill me in with the current mileage on the truck and I'll look into any available options.

Glad to hear that your dealer's making this repair, Tyssa'sRide! Not a bad rental at all, but I hope you're not in it for long. Do you have any updates for us? Please let me know how the repair went; I'll be here to help or answer any questions you may have.

They are replacing the vacuum pump and "looking into" the timing chain. So far they say they haven't even heard of it.

I understand, Tyssa'sRide. What's the model year and current mileage on your F-150?

The truck is a 2013 FX4 and has 20,000kms on it.

Actually haven't had much luck with the dealer since buying new. I had to pay out of pocket for an earlier issue that I fought should have been a warranty issue but ford denied it twice. The Appearance package stickers were pealing off infront of drivers rear wheel. Cost me $280 to replace that little section.

On a 3rd issue regarding my HVAC not operating properly when using the remote start I was informed "its supposed to do that"

If I take my truck to the dealer they are going to say "sorry we cant hear anything" or "its supposed to do that"

Im currently out of the country at the moment but I will begrudgingly take my truck to the dealer and see what they say.

Im not expecting miracles.

Finally going to ford to trade my truck in on something else that I can hopefully trust. I didn't spend this much to have the feeling of buying a $1000 car wondering what's next and is the motor going to last. Horrible that this is what its come to. I CANT believe FORD won't fix this. What am I thinking to give them more business? It's a feeling like giving your significant other chance after chance for cheating on you while your left hoping it stops at the same time as wondering when's it going to happen again. When does one say **** this I'm done with this and get something better that you can trust???

There isn't one you can trust, every vehicle out there has failures and has recalls/ TSB's. They are all mechanical things and mechanical things fail.
I'm taking the route and hoping mine will last a long long time with this noise. It's just a noise so far, some have said that the noise was there and still had over 150K miles on the clock.

Who know's...

Good luck with the trade in.

I'm not ready to trade yet... Ford are definitely handling it wrong. The frustration we experience when trying to convey the issue to dealers.

"normal noise" "couldn't replicate" "can't fix" "sorry, sorry, sorry".

You know damn well they are watching this issue closely when the CSR's are still participating in this thread and cherry picking individuals to offer help to!

True that... They all break down somehow. Your noise isn't as loud or frequent as some of us. Maybe you'll get by for a long time. Maybe you'll pooch your motor. The one guy who posted the story about running over 150k miles with the noise was also the "friend or employee" of the owner. It wasn't his truck... I haven't seen any others. I've read about several people who've had the timing chain fixed, they sold or traded and those who kept the truck and the noise came back... And some of them traded in too.

I'm pretty sure I'm starting to get this issue on my 2012. It did it twice yesterday on cold starts but didn't do it today, yet. I'm going to check it in a little bit and record the start up and see if it does it. I'm due for an oil change soon so I'm going to bring it up to my dealer when I take it in for that.

Forgot to mention that I'm just under 32k and I bought mine used. Been taking it to the dealer that I bought it from for oil changes though and have never had any problems with them. Hopefully they actually listen to me about this. Going to try and have a couple recordings of it before I bring it up to them.
