I'm glad he's getting a new motor too. Knowing he had chunks of his motor in the oilpan makes me even more nervous about my truck as he was experiencing the exact same noise on cold starts... maybe they are not related...?

Being stranded with my family, trailer and gear a long way away from the nearest Ford dealer would absolutely ruin any vacation. This is why I bought my truck... We planned on buying a travel trailer this winter to use next summer and with this new to me 40/20/40 lariat we could actually all fit... Now we just can't go, lol. From what others are experiencing my truck does this all the time, not sporadically so it would seem mine might be closer to total failure? My other love is hunting and this truck is not suitable for hauling trailer gear and hunting partners either. Talk about embarrassing... If you've ever driven in very remote parts of BC or anywhere you'll understand why I am nervous. Help doesn't come fast or cheap.

Yes I would defiantly be care full. Especially if your getting that noise every time you start it or every morning. Mine started out every so often and then got to be a guaranteed noise every morning. Now they might not be related. Who knows?? I might sell it soon and get a RAM Diesel or even the gasser 6.4 hemi.

I wouldn't touch a POS Ram with a 100 ft pole. Look at their reliability and tell me with a straight face they are not a pile of garbage. I'd buy a GM before a Ram. With the pathetic payloads and capabilities of their 1500, they truly are the poseur truck.

No Guts, No Glory, Ram!

We had a couple dodges at my old work. 06 Mega cab cummins and a 10' Power wagon.

The mega cab was a pos until we threw a programmer on it and chopped off the DPF. After that it was still ugly but did pretty good one fuel. The powerwagon got 6mpg no matter what you did. But it could crawl up the side of a hill.

No matter what you couldnt pay me to own one.

Odds are the broken piston is a flawed one or a set not ment to be there example ; supply demand thing. It would really be something if it is a 3.7l with turbo's an direct injection heads. Lol

If you look on youtube there is a couple Eco's that failed due to piston skirt failures.

Well hell, they STILL haven't even looked at my truck. No idea what's going on.

I do have a Ram 1500 with a 5.7L Hemi as a rental, and am actually hauling a 33ft bumper pull travel trailer today. I'll tell ya, the suspension on this truck suuuuucks. My F150 is all around a better truck, well, when it's working properly anyways.

By "bumper pull" you mean proper hitch, right?
