Just to the timing components or the whole engine?

Details, we need the details You also had an additional ticking noise that was being made too right?

Default Same issue

I too have been having this same problem with a 2011 FX4 Ecoboost with approx 52k miles. Happens to me almost every morning now when it cold starts. Sometimes it's VERY bad and when other people hear it they always ask "what the #### was that?"

Last month I had the issue with the turbo causing a misfiring cyclinder (on a 7 hour drive back from Odessa no less). Dealership here is pretty backed up and it's almost impossible for me to give up my truck since I need it for work. I replaced the spark plugs myself and that has fixed that issue (for now, still need to get that underlying issue remedied).

Along with this noise on cold startups, my truck seems to be running a little rough when I'm stopped at a street light and just idling. Every couple of seconds my truck will rock, almost as if a cycliinder is still misfiring (previously only happened under heavy acceleration while passing).

I will get a recording of my truck in the morning and post it here. Reading all of your posts though doesn't give me a lot of hope.

I think a lot of these noises are are prob not timing chain related, but are related to vacuum pump issue. If you search forum it is very common and new ones are redesigned. I work at ford dealer and after hearing noise my truck made on start up I thought it was timing chain issue, turns out it is vacuum pump, sits right below headlight and makes chattering noise on start up, I have one ordered but they are on back order, which also suggest it is more likely the problem cause they are replacing several of them. I do not think we have even torn into timing chain issue on 150 yet. Search forums for vacuum pump issues, very prominent and much easier fix than timing chain.

How much of this thread have you read. The difference between the vacuum pump and the timing chain issue are WELL documented in the thread. Over and over again. What is it you do at the Ford dealer?

Welcome, and thanks for posting. I dropped my truck off on a Friday and met them Monday morning to start it. They heard and were able to document the noise, but now it's just getting them to actually repair it.

You need them to document your noise and get it into the system.

No... They are very different sounding issues.

It's almost comical how many are coming foward now... Comical in a sense that Ford say's it's a non issue but yet truck owners are showing up here and on my YouTube videos at a rate of 1 new case every 24 hours that we know about.

I recorded mine this morning but you can't hear the sound all that well, forgot I had my AC on full blast so it drowned out pretty much everything else. I'll record again tomorrow morning but will have my phone outside of the cab when I fire up the engine.

I can't remember who was having the power loss issues, but to whomever that is, is your loss of power an all time thing or is it just under certain loads? I went to pass a vehicle the other day and my engine just retarded out on me, made for a pretty hairy situation.

Wow! Huntinrig that's great! I've been looking at my phone every break of every day for the last few weeks like a 16 yr old waiting for his girlfriends next text message hoping to read of a response that is actually going in the right direction on gettingvthis resolved and showing that they do stand behind their product. Keep me informed bud can't wait to hear. Lol now I feel like a 8 yr old on Christmas eve!

Wow! If you find out how they worked that, please let us know. My dealership actually agrees with me about the problem (even showed them this thread) but the Ford Hotline won't approve them to break down the engine. Beyond frustrating at this point.
