Make sure the oil filter is on tight enough.

Mine did it for about 0.5 seconds the other morning, have it on video so finally got some evidence. Only has 53,000 KM on it. Bought it used at 38,000 had a fresh dealer oil change, changed at (8000km) 5K mile intervals since.

Oh and regardless of oil manufacturer this is occuring it isn't based on brand. Mine was changed with Castrol Edge and it still made the noise. Next change is Penz Platnium.

And if the oil filter was loose there would be oil leaking that has no bearing either.

I wonder if that includes replacing a blown engine if the chain lets go before they issue a recall...
What was your oil change interval?

I don't think that's it. The problem goes a little deeper. Ford would love a way to blame this on someone else, unfortunately they need to own this, and make it right for what is looking like a lot of truck owners.

Upload to YouTube. The more videos we have on there the better. Each video has the opportunity to rank individually in search and help other truck owners while shaming Ford at the same time.

They don't want to listen to video evidence from customers... That's fine.

People are who are looking to buy trucks certainly will.

I have a drop box account with 6 videos doing it. It was doing it bad, I have been using amsoil and filter since 1500 miles and have had the dealer change it every time but the first and last oil change. I took the filter off by my bare hands, No tool. It made a small little noise one time since but the sound was different. I don't think they put my amsoil in the last oil change they did.

I have read conflicting stories and received a few PM's regarding the replacement chain. Some say it's the same, others say it's beefier.

It also seems there are a lot of guys lurking in the shadows who've had the timing chain/tensioners replaced to no avail.

The truck ran really rough (missing) after the start this morning for the first 30 seconds or so.
Wow it almost sounded louder and longer in the his video. My truck is still at ford and haven't heard anything from them yet. I'm blown away they say it's normal and not to worry. It sounds horrible like its on its last leg. I'll keep you updated too. I also think we should get together to do somthing about this sound. Has everyone been using 5-w 30 or are some using 5w 20? I'm thinking of trying 0w-30 if I ever get it back and they haven't fixed it.
