In the morning, have the service manager and the tech stand outside the truck when you start it. They'll hear the noise and then qualify you for the repair. You'll need to fight with them over the labor to replace the phasers. Honestly, they should be eating the labor because this is a second repair attempt.
I'll start doing that every morning. Im taking it in for a oil change after work. Ford said there is no fuel in the oil and they cant recreate the noise. I got the lab report back on the oil in it. They stop reading fuel dilution at 10%

Dang! I was paranoid about mine diluting my oil so I had 3 separate analyses done and none of them showed anything over 5%.

How long are you waiting in between changes?!

I started doing 3k

Im at 6k now, changing it today. At like 30% on the oil life meter. Ill start changing it atound 3-4k but im going to have it analyzd every 1k

Just irritated that i talk to ford regional rep and they told me there is nothing they can do since the dealer said there is no dilution and no rattle.

Excuse me, my intervals were yielding all less than 2%. I would have thought you'd decrease your intervals after reading all the posts in this thread man!

6k is way too long if you're this concerned.

I'd just do 2-3k intervals and not bothering testing any other samples if the first one comes back fine.

I'm certainly a little confused how they can tell you there no dilution when you have a report quantifying it...

How backwards are you on the truck?

Remember there's guy's who've experienced rattle for thousands of miles without any issues. Chances are you'll probably be fine for a good while.

Hey guys, I had the same problem with my 2011 Eco after I bought it used in July. Started the crazy rattle a few weeks after I bought it. Very intermittent, mostly after a cold start. When I bought it it had 95000kms on it. I took it to Ford a couple weeks before I drove to Ontario and they checked it and couldn't find the noise. I left it with them till it made the noise. A week went by and I finally went in and asked for the manager and he came out to my truck and we started it and rattle rattle. They replaced all the parts no questions asked. It had 98500 when I took it there. So glad I took it when I did. Good luck with your trucks. Trev

I kept the intervals the same because the issue was suppose to be fixed, Nice to know its not i guess.

The truck is paid off, and I really dont want to take on payments again.

Keep with it JM. I have confidence you will get it fixed. Find the right dealership and get some Ford corporate representation and you will be looking good.

Quick question guys.....I didn't read the entire thread. Can this happen to all years, or is it just the 2011 and 2012 models. I have a 2014, and heard soemthing a bit weird this morning.

It can happen to all year models, including your year model. Fairly confident I've read a handful of threads/posts by users who've experienced this in 2016 year models as well.

Thanks for updating me.....Does Ford have a fix? Is it a total fix or a band-aid, until it happens again? I love my truck, I have 49,000 trouble free miles on it and I would love to keep it for the long haul. However, if this motor can't be trusted past the warranty....she gone! This is the first truck i have owned that isn't a diesel since the 1990's.....I gave up on that BS too. I was hoping this EcoBoost would give me what I need.
