Sure wasn't. Even called the ford rep and he said he would "help me out" by taking 250 off of my bill. still cost me almost 800 bucks! Didnt qualify for the powertrain warranty.

Hi IADJUSTU,

Please keep me updated. I'm here to help out too.

Hey txlonestars,

What's the current mileage on your truck? I'll see how I can assist.

Chad
Current miles are 18K. I went to dealer yesterday with TSB and they are ordering parts and will fix it. How long does something like this take to fix? I'm concerned because it is a new 2013 truck and another mechanic told me they will have to take the engine completely apart?
I will keep you updated.
Thanks,
Txlonestars

There is a lot of stuff that comes off the engine, but the cylinder heads never get removed, so you can't say they "take the engine completely apart". The repair is a good 1.5 days of repair, so you would need to plan on being without the truck for two nights.

Guess who's back!!! My new 2014 F-150 3.5 Eco made the noise yesterday, for a split second on a cold start. 18,000km on the truck. Oil changed regularly (5000km) with full synthetic and Ford filters. I'll monitor it and see if I can get it on video again. Not really sure what to think at this point...

Not surprising, as the TSB covers all ecoboosts into 2015.

It's frustrating that Ford took so long to document the fix for the problem, and now is taking so long to get parts available to implement the fix...

We won't know for sure if it is an actual 100% fix yet or not for a couple years.

So it would seem my truck has confirmed what I suspected would eventually happen with the timing/VCTs acting the way they are. At 136k km I've now got a MIL for P0420 (Catalyst Efficiency Bank 1).

Would the Canadian rep on here please PM me. I have brought the rattle issue up to my dealer before my powertrain warranty expired and was promised the repair when the fix was found (there was no TSB at the time, just that Engineering was aware of the problem and to do nothing at the time.) They have since reneged and am now saying I am past warranty.

I've also recently had a slow coolant leak which the same dealer determined to be the passenger side turbo leaking. I paid the dealer to replace the turbo. 2 months later I am still adding coolant .

Had my repairs completed. Truck seems to be running OK. I did run it hard after picking it up. I got a flashing check engine light for a cylinder 6 misfire. Other than the light flashing for about 20 seconds its been fine.
Colds start up this morning had no noise

Noticed one fella over on the other forum, they removed the whole cab to do this job. I hope not since the heads don't have to be removed.
