I think it's time to make an appointment at your dealership, JohnnyC. Be sure to circle back and let us know what you find out.

My truck has been at the dealer since Monday afternoon. I dropped it off around 5:30pm. The service manager listened to my recording of the sound and first thing he said was he thinks it's the timing chain tensioner. I should get a call sometime today. I'll keep y'all posted. Yeah, I agree with cord...first one is timing chain slack clatter. The second...have noclue.

Thanks for offering to keep us in the loop, trippen1999. Give me a shout if there's anything else I can do to help.

For sure. It's going next Wednesday. It's still under warranty as I bought the extended coverage. Looks like it'll payoff.
Thanks I will let come back when we get some answers

Never leave a engine noise un-checked. With Crystal here on this. Timing chain is easy fix until failure and piston to valve contact results from total failure.

I hope not. I hope there's a loose bolt. And I get laughed at for an easy fix.
Plus with it under factory coverage is be dumb to not get it looked at.

Yeah. Broken timing chain would result in having to pretty much get a new engine. Thanks for the help Crystal. I hope it is just a tensioner and not the chain or cam phasers. This repair is going to break my pocket book big time.

Ford just called. Main tensioner is bad. One of the secondary tensioner is bad. Main chain has slight amount of stretch.

How was the determination made that it was the tensioner? Not questioning the diagnosis, just wondering how they got to it.
