Mind didn't "fail" either...just had the start up rattle. But I'd say the rattle is a failed HPFP

Mine really does sound like it is coming from the front of the engine but I will try to diagnose further on the weekend.

I do have an existing case but I have been down this road before and have been told on multiple occasions that Ford has told my dealership not to touch the truck. Of course the dealer will not touch the truck because then Ford will not pay them for the warranty work and around and around we go.


Please explain to me what you can accomplish by looking into this further.

Did get the oil changed just to rule out contaminated oil from old pump. So guess we'll see if I can let it sit 12 hrs overnight again

Yes, there is one member who was successful using that process. He did a pretty good job of documenting the process. Sorry, I'm not sure which thread this was in.
