I was able to record the rattle at startup this morning. It sounds just like yours did cord. I will post the recording on here later today when I get a break at work.

Oh, yea. That's a timing chain. Make sure the tensioner gets replaced too. They'll balk, but insist on it.

Yes sir i will!!! Is yours still making the sound after the repair? Ithink the problem is the tensioner and not so much the chain...

During the summer I've heard 2-3 times. I did hear it several times when they first replaced the chain, but it wasn't consistent. I'm thinking that when it gets cold that I'll start hearing the noise more often. They didn't replace the tensioner on my truck, but the relationship to the cold does seem to suggest that there could be an issue with the tensioner.

Default Same noise, different diagnostic.

I had (or have) what sounds like the same noise, but the dealer diagnosed is as high pressure fuel pump failure and replaced the pump.

Here's a few cold starts with the noise:

!@#$ Mine has been making a "similar" noise but it lasts for about 7-10 seconds-does not change when I put it in gear-it is more of a high pitch squeal. But it doesn't do it every time. Now I am freaking out. 2011 Eco Screw 4x4 with 67K miles on it. Still have 8 on the warranty. Motor started-put it reverse and then the noise starts. But it will make the noise at the flip of the key too. I'm trying to upload it
Try this

That sounds like a timing chain in the first one, I don't know what I'm hearing in the second video. Maybe the vacuum pump?
