2011 ecoboost noise on start up

Been doing some deep Googling, and it appears some Mini owners had similar issues with getting the timing chain/tensioner replaced, and still having a rattle at cold start. Rattle was coming from top of engine, and was traced to HPFP. Maybe my dealer is on to something

Mine does too I think. Seemed my oil was high when I checked, and I get a ton of oil picked up by the PCV system and deposited in my IC. Not exactly sure of the construction, but wondering if its possible for the fuel to drain out of the HPFP when it sits for a period of time into the crankcase...causing the oil level to rise. And causing the HPFP to make noise because its "dry" at first start.

Does anyone know if the HPFP in the 3.5 ecoboost on the Taurus works on the F150 ecoboost? I haven't heard of the Taurus doing this. Maybe the dealer can put on that pump and see if the noise comes back.

Nope - 2 completely different units by 2 completely different manufacturers. The FWD applications (Taurus, MKS, Flex, Explorer) use a smaller Bosch unit. The F150 use a larger unit made by Hitachi. They are separate parts.
