The not covered under warranty kinda concerns me. I'm at 34k and was going to order the 8 year esp. But they arnt covering a possible complete failure of this motor to a well known problem? This is the first truck I've ever bought new and so far it's looking like a bad choice.

rattle noise on startup
My F150 starting making a noise on startup after sitting overnight. It sounds awful, rattle noise. Started at 8,000 miles. Under Warranty. but the dealer ran an "Oasis" and it said, "Ford is aware of the issue...blah blah...we are working on solution...blah blah...don't fix...check back for resolution!!" so the dealer immediately washed hands and said, "we can't do anything, until Ford tells us monkeys what to do.." so then I waited, waited, waited, and listened every morning to rattle noise everyday! Then came across this post, found the TSB and I am going back to dealer to push them to fix. I'm under the Warranty and they still giving me run around!!!!" no one wants to fix it, even when it is under Warranty. I'm baffled...And I even recorded it on my phone, because it only lasts about 3 seconds. Let them hear it. They admit they heard it next morning, but "it wasn't long enough for us to determine the cause...blah blah...."

No...the causal part under the new tsb is the vct which is not covered by the esp. The causal part under the old tsb was the timing chain which was covered. Therefore the timing chain issue is no longer covered by my esp.

Shoot me a PM with your name, best contact number, VIN, and dealership information; I'll loop in your regional customer service manager to help reassure you about your truck purchase.
Took my truck in yesterday for low power while pulling my camper. Service department called me and said they would replace the timing chain again as well as all VCT for no charge since I had the timing chain replaced (that I paid for previously) and because I was loyal customer.
Thank you to all on here who have helped answer my questions, do research for yourself and share with others, post TSB's, and give advice on speaking with the dealership.
I have a bit more faith in FORD again and if this solves the problem I will have full confidence again.

What's the current mileage on your truck? I'll see how I can assist.

Just took my 2012 into the shop today for this exact same problem. Have 55 k on it. Will it be covered under warranty? Service guy said "should be". Makes me nervous...as I understand this is a pretty costly fix???
