2011 Ecoboost 02 Sensor Issue
I am new to this forum and put a thread up on the "2009 - Present Ford F150" forum, but should have put it on here. Hopefully, fellow Ecoboost owners will jump over there and read my thread. Just hoping somebody can chime in if they have had this issue, the Ford dealer says it is becoming a known issue with these vehicles.
Not trying to be downer and not trying to get Ecoboost owners worried, just trying to pass on this information.
Thanks guys

Before I bought my 2011 Ecoboost, I asked a friend of mine who works as a service writer at ford, whether or not the Ecoboost had any issues to date, and the only thing he mentioned was that they had one customer who's truck was down for 3 weeks due to a bad o2 sensor. He didn't specifically say which sensor it was though, but I imagine it may be one of the widebands....

02 Sensor
It's Ecoboost specific according to the dealer. It uses a one-off 02 sensor that no other Ford vehicles share according to my dealer. The issue I am having is too long to retype, but you can switch forums to the "2009 - Present" forum and read my post where I explain what happened. I don't feel it's the 02 sensor based on past experience with faulty 02 sensors. The truck is 2 weeks old and basically died on the highway and the transmission's operating characteristics were affected drastically. It's still being looked at, but they ordered an 02 hoping it will fix it.

I could see the o2 sensor being the root cause, basically something goes wrong with the o2 and puts the computer into limp home mode which will limit tranny operations

O2 Sensor Issue Update
Just got the truck back last night. It seems good so far, looks like the O2 sensor at bank #1 out of 4 went bad. They also inspected the harnesses to all the O2 sensors for chaffing per the current SSM, but found no evidence of chaffing. The truck is only 2 weeks old, so I figured the chaffing wouldn't be an issue at this point. Ford engineers told my dealer the shifting issues I described don't totally match the "limp mode" characteristics, so they were concerned about this and almost treating it as a different issue. There is a TSB regarding a re-flash for the trans calibration, but my truck was built after that was issued and Ford told them my truck already had the new program and they couldn't find anything else wrong. So for now, I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping no issues arise.
