2011 eco intermittent miss

Kinda glad this topic came up. It just started on my new EB yesterday morning (less than 500 miles) at idle, in park, it "stutters" for lack of a better word....with the tach jumping up and down a bit, not more than a couple hundred rpms. I can also feel a slight shutter when sitting in the cab. I figured I would let it go for a week, and if it doesn't improve/change, I'd take into the dealership to a look.
The part that makes me wonder if somethings wrong is a combo.....the first tank of fuel averaged around 16, and since this "stutter" started, the best is 11.9.

I am sure that with the '12 model year EB, which I will buy in the late fall, they will have eliminated this problem; as they will have made the necessary mod's to the fuel delivery system, including the ability to run E85, along with the 36 gal. tank.
Thanks so much, for discovering and helping to get all of the 'bugs' out of the new EB, before I buy mine!

Mine will stutter a bit when I lug it and it just starts to build boost. My ms6 definitely did this as with most gas turbo vehicles I've driven. I won't worry about it until it sets a light or gets worse. I think it's the computer trying to adjust the a/f as quickly as the turbos build boost.

So, all I can guess is, dealers come under some other classification and can still get none ethanol gas and that was my change. Perhaps this is what happened with your mileage.?

It definitely shouldn't be shaking the truck like that - mine doesn't idle at one RPM until its warmed up all the way, but it doesn't shake the truck at all.
It actually runs so smooth that I've tried to start it again a few times - luckily, that's impossible on these new trucks, they wont even try to start again if they're already running.

Mine runs a little rough when you first start it up but when I stop at a stop light after it's warm I don't feel anything abnormal. Probably due to Ford running the engine rich. Have you looked in your tail pipe? Mine is black. Stick your finger in there and see if it doesn't come out black

I pulled mine out of the garage and shut it off to wash the truck. Later on, when I started it, a lot of black smoke came out of it. I have not noticed this before, but I have noticed black spots on the garage floor in the past.

Has anyone had any trouble with the eco having and ocassional hard miss. About 2 weeks ago I accelerated hard and my eco was just like it was stuck in gear and back fired a couple of times. I didn't think to much about it but yesterday it was missing so bad it wouldn't hardly idle, seemed to smooth out after giving a little fuel. At times it would run fine and then others it would miss again. Calling dealer tomorrow. Let me know if you have any ideas. Thanks in advance.

The turbos have very little to do with it (unless you are running extreme Psi's on your turbos, which ecoboost is not). Direct injection is how diesels can run 18:5.1 compression ratio's + boost and not suffer pre-detination. Air is squeezed to extreme pressures and temperatures in the cylinders, then at the exact right moment, as the cylinder nears top dead center, fuel is added, and in the case of a diesel it instantly ignites. I think that is some of that same principles with these new gas direct injection engines. That is how they can run higher compressions and still 87 gas.
