2011 eco intermittent miss
Has anyone had any trouble with the eco having and ocassional hard miss. About 2 weeks ago I accelerated hard and my eco was just like it was stuck in gear and back fired a couple of times. I didn't think to much about it but yesterday it was missing so bad it wouldn't hardly idle, seemed to smooth out after giving a little fuel. At times it would run fine and then others it would miss again. Calling dealer tomorrow. Let me know if you have any ideas. Thanks in advance.

intermitten miss eco
Thats a real good posibility. I live in the area of Missouri thats had 20 inches of rain in the last 7 days. Can you put heet or something like that in the eco. Thanks for the quick replys.

I would suspect moisture as well - don't think it is suggested to use any gas additive in the Eco- could be wrong? Dealer might recommend something?
I have had a stumble in my idle a few times – thinking that might be gas related as well?

I find it strange they say 87 octane works for a dual Turbo setup. If I had an EB it would get 93 all the time. Better gas
But if its moisture in the fuel I guess it doesn't matter what gas u are running.

I'm sure that both 87 and 93 octane rated fuels have 10% methanol content unless stated otherwise.
If it is a "miss" I don't think higher octane will help. Only need it if the engine knocks.
And my ecoboost runs very well on regular 87.

87 works because the direct fuel injection cools the cylinder and reduces the chance of knocking so you can use lower octane gas. But the manual does say that "for best results" you can use 93, which means that it will probably advance timing and give you a slight boost of power with higher octane.

They just seem to idle weird - mine never misses but it never really idles at the same speed, always speeding up and slowing down. Once its in gear it doesn't do that.

Kinda glad this topic came up. It just started on my new EB yesterday morning (less than 500 miles) at idle, in park, it "stutters" for lack of a better word....with the tach jumping up and down a bit, not more than a couple hundred rpms. I can also feel a slight shutter when sitting in the cab. I figured I would let it go for a week, and if it doesn't improve/change, I'd take into the dealership to a look.
The part that makes me wonder if somethings wrong is a combo.....the first tank of fuel averaged around 16, and since this "stutter" started, the best is 11.9.
