Default 2011 5.0L - Oil Analysis

Having put 21,760 miles on my 2011 FX4 OFF ROAD 5.0L since purchasing it *new* (with 5 miles on the odometer) Oct'2011, I decided to send-off an oil sample to BlackStone Laboratories to see how the 1st 20,000 miles have been. Blow-and-Lee-Hold ... NTF

I have enough nightmares to worry about without worrying about my oil. Change when truck says to and wait till the next notice.

Can't even begin to understand the readings or want to think about what they mean. Did our parents do this stuff?

Looks like to me that at 3600 miles on the Pennzoil oil it is breaking down faster and losing viscosity. Both were below the range. So maybe changing your oil every 3k would be ideal. Either try a different oil or change more often. At least that is what I am reading. I would go longer on that oil. Thanks for sharing your report. Interesting reading.

Any particular reason why you're using 5W30 instead of 5W20?

I've had similar findings from my other Pennzoil conventional 5W30 vehicle reports (2003 Crown Victoria LX Sport with 120,000 miles), however, each have indicated that for 5W30 it's only slightly out-of-range.

So maybe changing your oil every 3k would be ideal. Either try a different oil or change more often. At least that is what I am reading. I would go longer on that oil.
Have a history with Pennzoil and not having any engine related issues so I'll be sticking with it, however, will be extending the oil change duration to (say) 5,000 miles. HUH? I've been inching-up the interval miles.

Thanks for posting this. Should be interesting to see how mine compares, just sent a sample off to them on Monday. Bought mine with 34,500 miles on it, and changed the oil to Valvoline Syn-Power 5w20 at 36,700mi. Went about 5700 miles on this oil change, so we'll see.

Old-school ... Didn't even subscribe to mult-grade oil until 2001. Prior to that it was 40 years of 20W winter / 30W summer.

I've found that multi-grade conventional oil looses a slight amount of viscosity over it's life. And IMO the "30" gives a little bit of load protection. But then ... It's all just personal belief and preference.

Would also be interested in a comparison. Be sure to post-up.
