same problem
I bought a 2012 F150 with 66k on it last month and a week after driving it, I noticed my coolant was low and I could smell it. It was not evident right away where it was coming from so I took it back to the dealer and they put some dye in and I ran it for a week. Sure enough it was coming from the same quick connect part. When I took it back in they said it was from the two hoses and the water pump, by hoses I assumed they meant the quick connect. Part was on back order from Ford. So, it took three weeks for it to get finished. They were very professional and it didn't cost me a dime. Can't complain about that. However, I picked it up four hours ago, drove it home, and and let it sit in my drive way, come out and there's a puddle in the same spot. Felt under the quick connect, sure enough its still leaking there. Very frustrating. I don't know if I should take it all the way back or try one of these home remedies. Any ideas? AMP77 how easy was that fix and how is it holding up after a week? Thanks

That's the exact reason I didn't want to use factory parts. In this case I just don't trust that quick disconnect (even more so after seeing it apart). It took me 40 minutes to fix mine with the new elbow and hose clamps. And a chunk of that time was removing the whole air intake assembly to make some extra room. I clamped off the hose that I cut so that I didn't have to drain at the radiator. I'd highly recommend you buy the same parts as I did if you go for it. They came from Pegasus Auto Racing. Buy a 1 x 3/4 reducing elbow and a 3/4 aluminum splice connector. And their hose clamps are the kind you want (lined on the inside so they don't cut into the rubber). The elbow fits the factory reservoir bottle outlet perfectly. If you need any help let me know.

It's been a few days since I made this repair an I've done a bunch of driving in traffic, around town, and on the highway. No leaks and the coolant level has stayed right where it should. It's a really nice feeling to pop the hood and feel dry hoses instead of a wet plastic elbow.

To Amp77 , I was very impressed with your repair , its a shame that the dealer repairs do not include any clean up after their work , I quess cleanup or workmanship isn't inclued in the Ford Flate rate book

WSB, I'm a big Ford fan. I've had 14 fords over the years (most of them trucks). I'll never buy anything else but I agree that they're not the best at service. I do love the 5 Litre and I feel great about my truck again now that I'm not carrying around a bottle of coolant! As soon as the snow melts I'm spending a whole Saturday cleaning!

I really didn't want to replace my leaking quick disconnect fitting/ reservoir assembly just to have it leak again, so I bought less than $40 worth of hose and fittings (pictured below). The elbow is a 1 x ¾ reducing elbow.
I cut the OE hose and used a splice connector. The reducing elbow slides right onto the reservoir assembly.
I'll let everyone know how it works out over the next few days/ weeks. (Sorry the truck is so dirty - it's been a bad winter here).

For anyone looking to buy the parts to fix this the way I did….
I ordered 4 of the smaller hose clamps but only 2 are needed. (get 2 of each size clamp on the list). Parts are from Pegasusautoracing.com
