Just noticed this leak today at the quick connect coming from the tank. I already ordered the Pegasus kit but had a quick question on the install. I just wanted to clarify if you guys are cutting the factory hose shorter or just putting the elbow and coupling?

I had to cut about an 1-1/2" off the fat end of the new elbow (part that goes on the degas tank). Otherwise it would have been resting on the cam cover.

Unhook the factory hose by pulling out the little silver clip and pulling down on the hose. Then slide the new elbow on the tank. Install the coupler into the elbow and swing the factory hose around to see where you need to cut it. Make your cut, slide the factory hose onto the coupler, tighten all your clamps, refill coolant and you should be good. 😉👍🏼

Thanks funford. So you cut the new elbow and the factory hose?

SO my truck is leaking coolant. Two questions: has ford come out with a less expensive repair 2) could I use a high temp/high pressure rescue tape to temporally fix the quick connection.

I know it's painful but read trough the thread. Where is your coolant leak? If it's at the expansion tank buy the kit from Pegasus. You can try repair tape but unless you're leaking a lot I'd just keep a gallon of coolant with you and top off regularly until your parts come in.

the leak is right at the connection hose from the expansion tank. Is there a link for the Pegasus kit?

This thread is full of people with the same issue. Here's the kit that fixes it cheap...

I just read the whole thread, quite the read but I'm glad I did it. I have the same style connectors on my '11 BMW and haven't had any issues with them. I'm disappointed to see that there are so many issues with Ford's version. The cooling system on my 2008 F150 is still all original without one leak and it's got over 210k miles on it.

I just wanted to update this, I made a typo on the last o-ring I meant to type bs-218.
I have the 218 installed now and it is holding, but the OEM part I measured to .157" which is a bit thicker than the actual dimensions of the 218 (.139 +/-.003) This is the closest oring I can currently find. the next size up on standard orings is 3/16" nominal which has actual dimensions of .210 +-.005 this is way too thick. Even specialty 5/32" nominal thick orings have actual dimensions of .176 which is also too thick but if my 218 starts leaking I may try the 5/32" thick
Could you provide us with an update on the BS-218 o-ring? I'm looking at changing out all the o-rings and maybe even doing the Pegasus mod to my new to me '12 F150. I'm changing the lower rad hose and noticed that the t-connector (DR3Z-8566-A) is leaking now too.
