A nice aluminum y connector with hose clamps would take care of the issue I would think?
Yeah, I did it in the afternoon on a Saturday so I'd be good to go late Sunday to top it off and be ready to head to work. I also strategically placed an electric space heater under the hood to keep the area warm. It was in the teens and low 20s when I did the repair, haha.

Steelerz,

I think it's a great idea to try and find a repair method using non-factory parts. I don't have much faith in Ford's quick disconnects either - that's why I found different parts for the expansion tank repair. Good luck. If you do find parts that work please post the components here!

Replaced the upper hose last week and all seems good for now. Seems strange to me the hose repair to the tank was repaired and within a few hours the main hose connector went bad. As I mentioned earlier the hose takes 10-14 days for delivery. Hope this repairs my problem. Good luck with yours. And thanks again for all the feedback on this site.

The dealership has already had to replace the hose out of the reservoir tank (BL3Z-18472-J) twice. The first time was in October 2014 and most recently last month.

So my coolant level was a bit below the minimum but I can't find any sort of leak even at this well known 90 degree connection. I'm at about 33,000 miles so not sure how to handle it. I mentioned it during my last oil change and the guy tried to explain to me how a little bit can disappear but I'm not really buying it. Any ideas what I can do before my warranty is up?

Keep an eye on both areas that have been mentioned during the next cold patch of weather. Some folks have only been experiencing the leak at temperatures below freezing.

Sorry for the stupid question but do you know if the 4x4 has the same configuration of coolant lines. I'm not sure if that changes anything.

I will ad my experience to the mix here. Discovered my tank hose leaked when I touched it checking the oil level. Did not seem to leak unless you touched the quick disconnect coupler but I did notice the smell of coolant when the truck was warm. Ordered a new hose then read this thread so I also ordered the silicone elbow. New hose came and did not seem any tighter than the original. By that I mean there was up/down movement of the connector when on the nipple. My friend also has a 2012 and his is tight, no movement. I decided to cut the hose off and install the silicone elbow. Problem solved. Hate to say it but another issue that Ford turns a blind eye to at the expense of owners.......

Talked to the guys at work who all have F-150 5.0s - every single one has the coolant leak. One guy fixed it a few times, just for it to continue to come back.

I hope Ford feels stupid. The guys love the trucks, but this is pissing everyone off. Stuck thermostats and leaking quick disconnects. The crap people take for granted not to break. At least with the Chevys, once you get a new tranny in, you're good for a year or two and don't have to worry about the truck.
